Safety Tips For Night Shift Workers

Most of the criminal activities happen during the night time, as during night it becomes easy to hide in darkness. Professionals who have to work in their night shift are more vulnerable for facing unsafe situations either at their work place or at their commute. If you have to work at night shift, you must be prepared thoroughly to tackle any critical situation.

  • You must carry a battery operated torch-light with you, when you go for the office at night. Even at your work place, keep the light within your reach, so that you can use immediately when it requires.
  • You must remain awake through out the night. For this, you must take adequate rest during the day time, when you are at your home. Without proper sleep, you will feel drowsy and sleepy at your work place. You will also not have the energy to react as and when there is an emergency.
  • Staying hungry or having a little amount of food at your night shift will make you weak and lazy. This will also hamper your effectiveness in your work and in case of any attack from outsiders.
  • You must keep a list of emergency telephone numbers handy. Especially, the telephone numbers of the local police station is the most important thing. If you have the numbers at your fingertip, you can immediately inform the police about the latest situation.
  • While working on a night shift, you should not remain alone. Try to form a group to work or arrange the schedule in such a way that you do not have to work alone by sitting inside a big room.
  • Confirm from your higher authority that they have adequate security arrangements for ensuring your safety like on-duty security personnel, close circuit TV, latest security alarms etc.
  • Finally, for your ultimate satisfaction, you may carry some equipment for self defense. Self device instruments like stun gun, taser gun and pepper spray are ideal to deal with hazardous situation.
  • You may also join a course to learn any type of martial art to take care of yourself. Certain techniques are really useful to put your opponent in difficulty.
