A beautiful sailboat out on the bay
Sailing, sailing on a sunny day
So beautiful as it sails away
On deck I stood once as first mate
I helped her sail true and straight
But this morning she sailed and I was late
Will she tack against the wind and turn
And to this lonely port return
And retrieve her sailor with his lessons to learn?
Or will she sail on obliviously
As I watch from shore blissfully
Admiring her beauty wistfully?
No telling what might be her mind
I'll not sit and wait here blind
But instead find work of some other kind
Yet will cherish the memory alway
Of the sailboat that carried my heart away
And left me here on shore today

I'm hopeful. She was built to sail, so if she wants to sail, I have to let her sail. If she returns I'll gladly sign for another voyage. ;)
This is lovely, for sure! I hopes she comes back.
Thank you, Invictus
I have been reading your poems...... I wish you could love me the way you love this lady that has got on a ship and sailed away. If she does not return, and you like my writing syle could you write a little poem for me and if she comes I will understand. You are the loveliest person here, but too secretive???? what time is it where you live, and do you like Cat Stevens, i do and it is 9 o'clock here.
True love, Not Telling, True love!
Your life is a romantic dream, do you have a job or are you Not Telling!
Thank you, Miss Take. It is only a poem and I am only a poet. These poems are written for my love. I hope they allow readers to share some of the joy I am so privileged to receive.
That's right, Hawkesdream.
Clearly, Gypsy, my job is to write these poems. :)
good morning busy day catch up later....... love the poem as usual
I like the way you describe the sailboat in this poem. There is obviously a connection to it in love and admiration...yet it is still free to be itself. A true lesson in love. Great Poem, Not Telling...May you and your sailboat remain free to go where the wind takes you...
Good to see you, Brenda!
Thanks for your high praise, Manly Poet.
the wind takes you ah ah what wind... this poem is good is the boat built to sail or the person on it.... is she very fat or something
It's a metaphor, Miss. :)
Sometimes we just have to up anchor and move on...nicely written...I do hope she tacks to your leeward...
Thanks, Maven. She trimmed sail and coasted into port in a short time, lucky for me.
Nice one. Another one of love and abandonment, these are my favorite type of poems. I enjoyed this one as well.
I think you will like my work, Am I Dead. :)
very romantic. i love it.
Very glad, Laceyjo.
aw this is so sad, did she come back
Something better occurred, PL :)
was just going to say tell me about it, then i remembered your name, and how you always live up to it
I have since realized that simply to swim in the same ocean in which she sails is enough. :)
.....aw that is too cute

This is beautiful NT. But so sad. Surely she would come back for her sailor.
