Forget the Green Beer and Nachos, Throw a Sexy St. Paddy's Day Party This Year

Saint Patrick's Day is an annual feast day to celebrate St. Patrick- one of the Patron saints of Ireland. The day is the National Holiday of the Irish People, and celebrated worldwide by Irish people, but more and more non-Irish people are partying down like the Irish on St. Paddy's day. Contemporary traditional celebration of this day includes wearing green, drinking Guinness, and eating green food, but if you want to throw a St. patrick's day Party this year, here are some ideas to make it a little more posh...

Planning the Party

  • Go old-school and make paper invitations to your party. Use green card stock, 4-leaf clover stickers, and scrapbook decorations. Don't forget to include the what, where and when
  • Invite people to dress as "Sexy Leprechauns", encourage them to wear all green, big belt buckles, green tights, black boots and loafers, tell them to be classy, yet creative with their costumes.
  • Don't put up tacky decorations, keep it clean and classy. Forest green is the sexiest green to use. Put out green tablecloths and green napkins (preferably cloth), sprinkle some green metallic 4-leaf clover confetti around on surfaces, tie green or rainbow silk scarves around your doorknobs, use your fancy silverware, flatware and glasses.
  • Set your computer up so that it is logged on to the "Leprechaun Watch" webcam website at: http://www.irelandseye.com/leprechaun/webcam.htm.
  • Serve green drinks- not green beer- fancy stuff! See below for instuctions on how to make drinks like the Green Meadow, The Irish Flag, and Aloe Vera. Check out more green drinks (with pictures) at: http://www.drinkalizer.com/drinks/colors/green.php
  • Make some yummy Shamrock cupcakes, this is a great recipe; http://www.marthastewart.com/article/saint-patricks-day-cupcakes?lnc=a489cf380e1dd010VgnVCM1000005b09a00aRCRD&rsc=photogallery_holiday_holiday_holiday_p2
  • Serve some Irish food, or green food. See below for some recipes.
  • Make a cd of Saint Patrick's day party music. Include classic Irish St.Patrick's day music like, but mix it up with regular party music.
