New town new job

Before I moved from my home town of 20 years my brother said you wont make it you'll be home in a couple months, and

that was when I decided that no matter what I would make it work, I'll prove them wrong.

7 year's ago I went in for an interview I was expecting to shampoo carpets, they hired me on the spot and I had moved from a small town the day before and saw the ad for carpet shampooer's for 1800 per month. So I was excited. The next three days were trainig and I had never seen a Kirby before, I was amazed by the power a Kirby has. Then to find out that it shampooed, with attachments I still didn't really know what the job entailed. On our second day of training we we asked more questions and found out that we would demonstrate the Kirby's in home's but all appointments were set ahead of time, which of course wasn't completely true. The next couple of days thing started to unravel, turns out I was knocking door's and demonstrating Kirby's. It turns my stepsister's friend worked in Kirby at the same office so for a couple months he let me stay with him.

I was shy, low self esteem, uninterested in meeting new people, and I wasn't the most positive person. I would knock a door and the owner would yell not interested, slam the door, and I cried on the corner it was horrible. One time my boss and I got into it because I wanted to quit and go home. He told me fine I don't want you here if your not willing to put in some effort, so I cried agian and decided not to quit.

Loving Kirby

I have written a few blogs but this is a huge chunk of my life!

My Kirby Careere

He taught me a lot, he always talked Kirby and you can only take so much! Most of time I fell asleep on the couch while he was talking, but we had fun and he had kids that came over so that broke up the monotony. I started selling and saving money one day he tells me I have 45 day to get my shit in order and move out, so the next week I told him I got new apartment. He was surprised wow! I should have told you that months ago! To make a long story short I moved out, and moved into my apartment and it was the first time living all alone in my own space it was great.

A year later I qualified for a trip to Universal Studio's Hollywood. I was so excited I hadn't been on a plane since I was 11. We stayed at Sheraton beautiful rooms, tickets to universal Studios, City walk two free club entries + drinks, we had so much fun. We also went down to the wax museum, checked out Hollywood Blvd., and of course we had group meetings and awards ceremonies everyone dressed to impress. I met top divisional managers, the President of the Kirby Company, and the best dealers and canvasser's in our division. After that I was sold and my career took off. I think it was next month that I had a BMIB which translates into, BEST MONTH IN BUSINESS! To make a long story short I qualified for 4 more trips in the next couple years. To South Lake Tahoe, Vegas, Mexico.

San Fransisco sticks out in particular we stayed at a beautiful hotel on Pier 101 called the Argonaut. We dove down Lombard the curviest road in the world, that I know of, that was cool. We went to China Town for the day and did some shopping and I ate sushi for the first time, it was weird the place was cool it was a floating sushi bar and I tried white fish, yuk, and then squid and that was OK but it was a cool experience. The next day we had a champagne brunch out on a 3 story yaught cruising out pas t Alcatraz Island and under Golden Gate Bridge. The day was perfect April 75 and sunny, that night we went to Jack's Bar it's famous for number of beer's on tap, and it doesn't stop there, the next night they had reserved Bubba Gumps, which the theme of the restaurant is Forest Gump. There was tables of food shrimp, bread, salad, drinks, all different types of seafood, YUMMY!

Vegas was awesome we stayed at Cesar's Palice, down the Vegas strip gambled the night away. Josh, Amy, and I went to see White Tigers, and dolphins at the aquarium, the animals were amazing we watched the people work with dolphins, all the trick they do is amazing, and just how beautiful they are. New York New York roller coaster OMG I hadn't been on a big roller coaster since I was 9 and went to Six Flags Great America. I was so scared It starts inside the hotel and go's out, up and around upside down and it was FAST! As we came back inside to get off, I had such an adrenaline rush I was shaking uncontrollably, cursing, and when I climbed out I fell down It was so funny. Every one was looking at me and laughing, Josh said want to go again and I said no way not now maybe later! For the next hour I was calling my friends to explain my experience. A couple times in my career I was number 1 in the division for sales for either canvassing, or dealing.

My career Not always peaches and cream

I had to work my butt off!

I was out beating the streets almost every day for about 10 hours, knocking on doors, dealing with customers, training people, switching back in fourth through positions, such as office manager, dealer, canvasser, TL which is a team leader and they manage their people, help them to achieve success, and hopefully promote them to TL. Every day we would have a meeting, sing songs, load Kirby's in the vans and head to neighborhoods to knock door's. Sometimes I would knock 10-15 appointments per day, and others I might Knock 5 all day. It mattered how many I knocked in a day, because I earned bonuses, and also if I didn't knock many appointments my boss was on my ass, and no time for breaks! Like I said I worked several positions butt the one I worked the most was a canvasser. I knocked door's all day getting door's slammed in my face, people yelling at me, cop's were called, people chasing us cause they were mad, and also because they wanted to buy a Kirby. Most people don't know that new Kirby's are only sold direct in a customer's home. Today was great Mike, Steve, and I did 4 demo's and sold 4 Kirby's! For a bonus Mike took us to dinner, we chose The Best Little Road House Yummy!

Glad you made it so far. Life taught us that to get what you want, you have to work hard.
