Samsung ML 1250 Printer
Samsung ML 1250 Printer

Utilizing the Samsung ML 1250 printer and Samsung ML 1250 toner is a simple enough assignment. After all, the unit is made to work together to provide good mono laser printer output for a single desktop or laptop PC or Mac. In this regard, it provides sufficient performance and printing capabilities suitable for just about any print job in the home or very small office environment.

Interfacing with the PC or Mac is a simple operation. The ML 1250 comes with USB and older-style parallel printer serial port capability. This gives it decent enough flexibility, too. A Base-TX 10/100 Ethernet or newer 802.11 wireless ability is not supplied, but probably wouldn't be needed when it comes to the home environment envisioned for this machine. Also, no USB or serial cable is supplied.

Printer speed comes in at around 12ppm, which is good enough for this sort of printer. A plus is that it also has a fine 1200dpi print resolution, which can be scaled down to 300dpi, if extreme sharpness is not a requirement for the print job in question. 1200dpi is double the resolution of the printer in the line-up it's replacing. As usual, print output speeds will vary by the job, in keeping with the graphics or text richness inherent within the task job.

The Samsung ML 1250 printer comes standard with 4 MB of installed memory which can be upgraded to a full 68 MB. This should be sufficient to handle just about any printing job given to it in the home office or personal use environment, even posters, card stock or transparencies. It's also a more energy-efficient printer model than the one it was built to replace.

This unit was made to accommodate most any Windows operating system -- in addition to Mac and Linux -- adding to its flexibility. It holds a standard 150 sheets of paper on the printer uses a vertical cassette to feed paper down and into the unit. This makes it look like a fax machine or an old-style ink jet printer. It also makes it extremely lightweight and portable, which is a big plus.

This laser printer can be used handily enough through its simple-to-use control panel. Plus, it has a "Toner Save" capability which will help to stretch out the toner's lifespan to at least its stated output maximums. If extreme resolution and clarity is not a concern, this may make a good option to use.

The Samsung ML 1250 toner is a cartridge unit that can put out up to 2,500 pages of print before requiring a swap-out with a new unit. If print jobs are predominantly text-rich in nature, it shouldn't be a problem to reach 2,500. If graphics make up more of the jobs, expect the toner to need replacement sooner.

As a working team, the Samsung ML 1250 printer and Samsung ML 1250 toner perform every job with grace and aplomb, delivering clean copy in an acceptable manner. It will also do so at a low cost-per-page price, for the most part. With a maximum monthly duty cycle of around 12,000 pages, maintenance should be infrequent, giving it sturdiness and long life.
