Ninja Swords Can Be A Nice Complement to Home Decor

About five years go I began purchasing samurai swords online at various places. Yes these are replicas and can't cut through paper without a lot of effort, but for the price, and if arranged properly, they make a great addition to perhaps one of the rooms in your house. Depending on your lifestyle, I probably would not adorn the main rooms with this, especially if you have kids or kids come to visit from time to time. One of my nephew's favorite characters is Leonardo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whose trademark weapons are the dual ninja swords or katanas. Needless to say when he visits its his mission to move chairs to climb and get his hands on my replicas. So I do suggest if you implement a set of swords for decor to keep it very high (on top of a mantle or big screen is perfect) and maybe even take them down in certain situations. Yes these swords are dull but it would still be very easy for someone to get hurt playing with these replica ninja swords.

If you rarely to never have children at your place, then I think samurai swords can bea perfect fit for a main area of your house or apartment. It shows style, class, and some original flair.

When I normally start my search for the perfect samurai sword set to decorate a particular room I usually begin at Overstock.com. Overstock usually has the best supply of replicas but they are a little high in price (I believe around $50 for a set last I saw.). EBay is another great option as you can see on the right border, however I'm sure that it is very hit and miss. To me the color scheme is half the battle. I like the samurai swords to blend in well with the room and possibly match furniture or wall decor. If you are interested I would find what you're looking for at Overstock and then see if you can find it somewhere else cheaper.

I f you are really interested I know of a company that makes real Katanas, and other ninja swords. These are handcrafted and are advertised to be the real deal. I have never purchased this style of sword as it is very expensive but I have bought other swords from this supplier and have never been disappointed. This company is called thecollectorsedge.com.

I also have to add a section for Leonardo as tribute for my nephew. Of all the Ninja Turtles he is the most honorable, hardest working and has the most technique. I unfortunately have seen their latest movie a few too many times, but it is actually a pretty good movie the first time you see it. It is closer to the comic books than the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies and a little bit darker, but still light enough for appropriately aged children.

I also recommend The Last Samurai as a great samurai movie even though it stars the strange Scientology promoting actor Tom Cruise. The Last Samurai has a lot of action but also a lot of history as Japan began its clash with western culture and modernism, with the old traditions and the tradition of the Samurai. Ken Watanabe (Katsumoto) is unforgettable in this movie. The action is very realistic and the plot very involving. If you like movies like this you will not be dissappointed.

I am actually considering to give them up. I can hardly lift them today.

What a great decor idea! These swords are indeed colorful and have interesting textures and forms. I like how your article reads more like a friendly conversation than a tutorial on decorating. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the comments. I think hub pages helps me write a little more friendlier (and better) than I used to. I've only been here 5 weeks but I already feel part of something pretty special here. The internet can be such a cold place sometimes, its nice to know there's some good communities and people out there.

Besides my nephew always trying to get at them to play with them (he's like 3 or 4 now) I love my swords. It does make an excellent decoration piece and adds some charisma to a dull room.

These are cheap and not even worth purchasing. if you just save your money you could buy a real Japanese Sword. Not only that but they INCREASE in value unlike your 440 stainless steel piece of junk. not everyone wants to use Authentic Japanese Swords for Iaido but they are a piece of Art.

While I do agree if one can afford it yes go with the genuine article, however Hapkido I think you are not living in the real world if you think most people will buy the genuine article unless they are very serious about samurai swords. Most people are looking for a nice sword set for $40 or $50 which look very nice for the price. Yes I'm sure your swords are better but I'm sure you paid a pretty penny for the "real thing".
