Sand Volleyball
63Sand volleyball is now a collegiate sport according to the NCAA!
The sport will not be known by the traditional beach volleyball name because not all universities will be near beaches.
Beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport in popularity in the United States.
Lets learn some of the rules of sand volleyball. First of all there are no rotation positions, you pick a side that you play best and you can stay there all game. Also, games are played to 21 and you switch sides every 7 points. The volleyball used is the official wilson beach volleyball that is white and yellow. An outdoor ball is lighter, bigger and slightly less inflated than an indoor ball. Jumping in the sand is much different than jumping off of a hard surface. You need to have a good jumping exercise routine to learn how to jump higher.
How to Jump Higher for Volleyball
Volleyball is all about how high you can jump. If you can reach higher than the opposing team you will win more points and in turn win the game. You can't control how tall you are but you can control how high you can jump. Jumping is something that many people believe you are born with. While this is slightly true, it doesn't mean that you can't put at least 6 inches on your vertical leap with the proper training. Just think about lowering the net 6 inches and how easy it would be to spike on a net that low. The truth is that you can put 6 to maybe even 12 inches on your vert if you are willing to take the time training. In sand volleyball you need to be able to jump even higher because the sand is hard to get out of.
