Review Of St. Lucia and Sandals Resort

Read This Before You Decide on St. Lucia and Sandals Resorts

Hello, me and my wife was recently married and chose The Sandals Grande for our honeymoon.  I wrote this review of St. Lucia to point out the pro's and con's.

Me and my wife were married in October and flew to St. Lucia from South Carolina in September for our honeymoon. Our trip did not start out so hot. After the death defying 6 hour flight, we arrived to our beautiful St. Lucia destination.

With tourism being St. Lucia's biggest money maker, you would think they would welcome their guests. We stepped out of the plane into the St. Lucia humidity. The St. Lucia airport is far from luxurious.

We walked into the unairconditioned airport to await a 2 hour customs line. To my amazement, I didn't see any old people die while standing in line. There was complete chaos in the airport.

There were about 3 different lines towards the customs counter with absolutely no order. People were on top of one another, side by side, everywhere imaginable. There was no one in the airport to direct anyone where to go or where to stand. If it would have been all American tourist's, there would have been at least 3 stabbings.

Barely Surviving through customs, we made it to our sandals resort bus. During our 2 hour bus ride with minimal air conditioning, we viewed the beautiful island littered by overwhelming trash and garbage on the sides of the road.

Arriving at the Grand St. Lucia, we had around a 30 minute wait after the 2 hour miserable bus ride before we got our room. While waiting, we were met by a hotel attendant. She went over our paperwork, payment information, and gave us the unknown news that we had to make a $500-$700 deposit. They charge the deposit as a pre payment on whatever charges you may occur. Whenever you make a purchase through a sandals affiliate you have a charge card which deducts from your pre payment. This is obviously there to make you unknowingly spend more.

The food at our resort wasn't always the best. I must say our servers was always in good spirits. We were occasionly brought the wrong plates from what we ordered. Overall, I give the food quality a 3 1/2 out of 5.

The views from the resort were gorgeous. I give the scenery a 5 of 5 from our resort. Outside the resort is a different world.

Overall, I give our trip to St. Lucia a 3 out of 5. I would never go there again after the ridiculous flight, customs, airport, bus ride. I have to say that the scenery was amazing, but not worth the pain.

Thankfully, I didn't kill my wife on our honeymoon and we are happily married with a kid on the way. Hope this Review Helps.

lol, The scenery was excellent, maybe we went at the wrong time of the year. I don't know. I do know the trip there was the worst part with evil knievel as our pilot. Thank You for the comment.

Whew! Glad we didn't choose this spot. I've heard Sandles has a wide range of quality which is a little scary considering the cost. Think I'll continue to overlook them.
