Sarah Brightman gre up in Little Gaddesden. This little village is located near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire in England. Sarah was the eldest of six children. She began taking dance classes at the age of three appearing in local festivals and competitions. When she was 11 Sarah was accepted into the Arts Educational School after successfully auditioning. She was rejected by the Royal Ballet in London after auditioning. Sarah went on to study dance with a focus more on jazz style. When she was 16 Sarah joined the dance group Pan's People, on the BBC series Top of the Pops. The next year Sarah left the show and became the lead of a mixed dance act called Hot Gossip. The group appeared on The Kenny Everett Video Show.

In 1979 when just 18 Sarah married Andrew Graham-Stewart. Andrew was a producer. The marriage lasted four years before she divorced in 1983. The next year she married Andrew Lloyd Webber.
