How to Run for Public Office
An excellent book to read concerning public office or public service is "The Audacity of Hope" by President Barack Obama. The many chapters offer an inside look on politics and how to raise funds for public office. Barack Obama's the Audacity of Hope gives a chronical account of his rise from a community organizer in Southside Chicago to a Senate seat in Congress in Washington D. C. President Obama says that he was not too particular about calling and asking for campaign contributions but did what he had to to gain financial support for his political campaign.
Step One: Start your crusade for public office in a Parent Teacher’s Association just as Sarah Palin start as Governor of Alaska that landed her the 2008 vice presidential candidate. Sarah Palina virtually unknown was plucked from Alaska to run for the vice presidential seat with Senator John McCain in the 2008 presidential election. Sarah Palin who has since resigned from public service was a viable force on the campaign trail and gave the Democratic presidential ticket with a minority running for the presidential a run for the money. Sarah Palin with her Alaskan colloquialism started her public life as a beauty queen, then a PTA parent and then won in numerous poltical debates to become the governor of Alaska. Start small with your public office pursuits by becoming a civic community leader of your neighborhood or as Sarah Palin did, join the local PTA and become an active member or vie to hold an office.
Step Two: Once you are sure that you belong in public office, run for city council. You may need financial support. Read the President’s book to learn about the telephone calls Barack Obama made to solicit campaign funds. You can not be shy about asking for public funds when you are running for public office. You must have a knowledgeable base and the propensity to win to gain the confidence to ask for political contributions to run for public office. Become a part of your political party volunteer associations and ease yourself into the public with support for major political issues. Work at the voting booth to get to meet the political figures running so that you can get a sense of the personna and character necessary to run for public office. If you work for the voting polls, put yourself in a position as a team leader so that you can see the inner workings of what makes a political party important in local, state and national government.
Step three: Research the political publications and join politico.com and Moveon.com to get involved with government on a personal online basis. Assure that you have public support before running for public office by using the campaign funds, solitcitations, and surveys to conduct a public opinion questionnaire. The election of Barack Obama as President has a lot of people more involved in how government works. With the heath care reform bill that is due to be signed, town hall meeting has sprung up in cities to discuss how the reform will effect the health expenses of the average Amercan. State politicians are also holding these town hall meetings to discuss issues and to answer questions concerning the health care reform bill. Be vocal and let your voice be heard and express the sentiments and opinion of the group so that you can get the agreement of a group that is important when running for public office. You must have a support group which is usually your political party affiliations as a pinnacle of support when running for public office. So be another Sarah Palin or another Barack Obama and start small toward your bigger goal of running for public office. Sarah Palin and Barack Obama started from obscure places and made it big in politics as a vice presidential nominee and as President of the United States and so can you.

They truly did start from relative obscurity. Try that in a socialist or theocratic country.
