Regardless of political views, most of us can agree that Sarah Palin looks great in her glasses. What is her secret to finding eyewear that blends sexy and smart? For starters, I bet she had a talented optician working with her and she certainly spares no expense when selecting designer frames.

But we don’t all have to spend a fortune to find glasses that look this good on us. The number one factor to realize is that just because a particular style looks good on Sarah Palin, does not necessarily mean it will look good on you.

Tina Fey Looks Pretty Darn Good Too. And has for some time...

Have you noticed all the ads that compare Sarah Palin and Tina Fey? Both these women look fabulous in their eyeglasses and they could probably swap frames and still look great. Do you know why this is? It is because they have similar face shapes and skin tones.

Using face shapes to select both eyeglasses and hair styles is a practice that demystifies many fashion decisions. When it comes to eyeglasses, the overall concept is to find a pair of frames that contrast with ones face shape.

Taking The Mystery Out Of Why These Glasses Look So Good

In Sarah Palins case, she has a fairly oval face shape. Now the nice thing about oval face shapes is that they are the easiest to work with, and most any frame style will go well with them.

What works best for Palin are frames that have the temples mounted high on the lens, leaving more of the lens lower on the face. If Palin wore eyeglases that had the temple mounted more towards the middle, the lenses would most likely cover her eyebrows which is not a good look. You will notice this feature in her ever-popular rimless eyewear that she has been wearing lately.

Because Governer Palins face does not have any hard angles, she also carries more angular eyeglass frames very well. This goes back to frames that contrast with a faces feature will look best.

So what does all this mean to you? It doesn't matter if you wear full time glasses, reading glasses, or just frames with plano lenses for fashion. If you want to look great in your glasses, know your face shape and choose eyewear that contradicts your face. Once you have discovered your face shape, head over to your optician or visit an online store such as ReadinStyle.com were you will find ready made reading glasses that will not cost as much. And most of all, have fun shopping! Don't try to look just like Sarah (or Tina) unless you have a very similar face shape. Discover your own shape and let your own sense of style flourish.

Oh, and also smile a lot. That always makes you look good.
