Save Gasoline
Gas prices are starting to rise again and as the seasons head towards summer that is going to continue. Whether your opinion is that gas price gouging is part of the problem or not won't help you save a penny on fuel prices. But there are practical ways for you to save more gas.
Gas Saving Tips
According to Philip Reed and Mike Hudson at edmunds.com these are some tested techiques to help you use less gas when driving. These are methods that have been tested for good results.
- stop driving aggressively and save as much as 37%
- stop driving faster, drive slower, save up to 14%
- utilize cruise control, up to 14%
- Don't idle car as much, save as much as 19%
We all know what driving aggressively is and if drivers stop it they keep more money in their pocket. The same goes for slowing down, and using cruise control. As far as useless idling goes, picture the long lines at fast food joints and anywhere else there is a drive up service.
Other Gas Savers
Another way is to watch the traffic ahead of you and gage when you need to take your foot off of the gas pedal and not lose forward motion by braking and causing friction. You can't do this if you tailgate. Parking your car in a shady spot in the summer works the air conditioner less and saves gas.
One more tip is to take anything out of your car that doesn't need to be there as excess weight causes your car to use more gas.
