#1 MAKE YOUR OWN CELLULITE SCRUB (about $5 to make a large tub)
Just combine equal parts of regular, granulated sugar, and ground coffee. You can use ground coffee straight from the can, but to make it even more effective, use cooled grounds from your coffee pot. Mix thoroughly, and put into an airtight container. Just keep this in your shower. Next time BEFORE you turn the shower on, take some of your cellulite scrub, and mix with a dollap of body wash. Vigorously scrub your cellulite areas for several minutes, then follow with your shower routine. Caffeine enhances fat metabolism and temporarily shrinks fat cells. It only takes a week or so to really see a difference.
#2 ALL-IN-ONE FACIAL TONER; SKIN BRIGHTENER; PIMPLE PREVENTION (less than $1)
If you want the simplest and most effective all-in-one product, use regular 3% over-the-counter hydrogen peroxide. This is so great at tightening and toning your skin; it has oxygenating properties, so it helps to brighten your complexion; and hydrogen peroxide is the main ingredient in all those well-marketed acne curing products and systems. Your face will literally start to glow.
#3 ANTI-WRINKLE, ANTI-AGING FACIAL ($2)
Who doesn't want to erase those wrinkles. And we are always wanting to look 29 forever. This super simple recipe will plump your skin like no other, and is especially good for those who are over 40. Mash together 1/2 to a whole avocado with 2-3 Tbsp of REAL sour cream (I personally use "DAISY" real sour cream.) Apply this mixture to make-up free, clean and dry skin. I also like to apply it all down my neck also. Lay back and relax for 20 minutes or longer if you can, and then just rinse with tepid water. This works better than any so-called anti-aging mask I've ever tried.
#4 CUTICLE SCRUB (less than $1)
You'll likely always have these items on hand, which is why the cost really is less than $1. Just mix 1-2 Tbsp of olive oil (don't use vegetable oil), with approx 1 Tsp of either lemon or orange juice, and mix thoroughly. Dip your fingertips into this mixture and either using your fingers or a nail brush, scrub this mixture into your cuticles and all all over your hands. This exfoliates not just your cuticles, but the rough skin on your fingers and hands as well.
#5 INSTANT HAIR VOLUME FIX ($2)
Ok, now trust me on this one, because it might sound wierd. To give your hair a real volume boost, take any hair shaving gel; apply a dollap in your palm and mix together; apply to DRY hair at the roots. Wait a couple minutes, and watch your hair plump up. In fact, hair shaving gel works better than most hair mousses do. Start off with a smaller amount though, until you get that "just right" quantity. If you use it more as a mousse, then towel dry hair, apply just like you would your normal product. Dry and style.
#6 SUPER SPEEDY NAIL POLISH DRYER (option 1 is $2 - option 2 is FREE)
After you've completely finished your nails with 2 coats of color and a top-coat, then take any kind of cooking spray, and over a sink or outdoors, lightly spray over your nails. This will dry your nails much, much quicker than air drying, and is almost exactly what is sold in the nail product section as "polish dryer". Another option is FREE. Once you've completed your polishing, dips your nails into a bowl of ice water. The trick here is to have a bowl big enough so that your not banging your nails against the ice. And yes, you do need the ice. Cool water will help a little, but the ice brings the water to a temperature that really kicks-in the nail polish hardening.
#7 BODY AND/OR FOOT SCRUB ($1)
This recipe is again using ingredients you will almost always have on hand. For a foot scrub quantity, take 1/2 cup of sugar or salt, and mix 1 Tbsp of lemon juice. Mix thoroughly, or for even easier mixing, put ingredients into a baggie and shake. While you are in the tub or shower, or over a foot tub, take the mixture and scrub it good into your feet and around your toenails to soften your toenail cuticles. Be sure to rinse thoroughly. For body scrub quantity, just double the amount. 1 cup sugar and 2 Tbsp of lemon juice. CAUTION: You don't want to do this right before shaving.
#8 EYE MAKE-UP AND MASCARA REMOVER-EVEN WATERPROOF ($1)
Forget those expensive eye make-up and mascara removers. The easiest, cheapest thing to use for removing any eye make-up and mascara, including waterproof, is simple petroleum jelly. Apply a very tiny dab onto a cotton eye/make-up pad, wet with water and then gently swirl over your CLOSED eyes to remove every last trace of make-up. This will even condition your eyelashes!
#9 ANOTHER ANTI-WRINKLE, ANTI-AGING FACIAL RECIPE (less than $1)
Another favorite of mine for sure, is this age defying, homemade facial recipe. Once again, you will almost always have these products on hand. Mix together 1-2 Tbsp of honey, with 1 egg white. After mixing thoroughly, apply to face, and neck region, and you'll want to make sure to lay flat for 10-20 minutes. As the honey mixture warms to your face, it will start to drip, so make sure to place a towel underneath your head, while enjoying this treatment. Honey is a humectant, so it attracts and binds water to your skin. This plumps away those wrinkles quick. Egg whites tighten and tone. Combined, they are ultra-effective at combating aging skin.
#10 PIMPLE-ACNE FIX AS WELL AS A HEEL CALLUS REMOVER (.05 cents)
Salycic acid is the primary ingredient in many acne medications. Prescribed or over-the-counter. It is also a main ingredient in many callus treatment creams. This do-it-yourself recipe will simply amaze you with it's results. Simply crush a few aspirin (which is only $1 for an entire bottle) into a bowl, and mix with JUST ENOUGH water to make a paste. For treating a pimple, simple pat a small amount over the pimple before bed, and leave on until the morning, and wash off with cool water. For treating heel calluses, you'll want to use more of course, but still making the same paste consistency. Spread this over your heels, and let dry. Once dry, apply a thick cream and put on socks. Leave this on while sleeping. Rinse thoroughly in the morning. I have my own holisitic center, and I do lot's of foot therapies. I always tell my clients with rough heels about this amazingly simple method for getting rid of calluses.
I hope you have enjoyed these amazing, simple and CHEAP beauty tricks and recipes. You can be frugal and beautiful at the same time.
