HOW TO GO GREEN

First and foremost thing that people need to do is: turn off the lights.

This is the best thing one can to do to save energy for your own as a cost saving measure. Yet it will do a lot of good for the larger global communtiy- save energy.

Another small change you can
make to reduce your energy costs is.

Take a shower.

If you are used to taking a long hot bath, it is time to
turn that habit into a treat. Unless you take long showers,
you will save a lot of water and energy by using the shower.

Especially if you install an inexpensive water saving
shower head.

Inexpensive and efficient, these new shower heads will
reduce the amount of water that flows thru your shower and
is wasted.

This in turn saves you the amount of water that your hot
water heater would have to warm up.

And that brings us to part two of this message:

Turn down the thermostat of your hot water heater. If you
can make coffee from your hot water tap, the heater is set
way too high. That's the way it is for most of us.

When was the last time you - ed the temperature on your hot
water heater?

By lowering your water heater temperature a little bit, you
can make your home more energy efficient. This small change
can have a big impact on your energy bill over a year.

And it will make your home safer, especially if you have
young children.

In a recent study of 140 children under 5 years old who
were taken to hospital for hot water scalds, 14 were the
result of tap water that was heated so hot it scalded the
children.

So keep your children safe, turn down your water heater so
that the water temperature never exceeds 120 degrees.
