Althought SAW 4 doesn't add anything recent to the genre it does what it did in the foremost SAW film and combines intricate traps, suspense, gore and a solid plot to cause for a fun horror experience. The SAW films are known for their intricate traps and the foremost one for some very twisty writing that takes you all over and leaves you in many places scratching your forehead and definitely wanting more. Where SAW 3 brought the franchise to recent lows for me SAW 4 brought it suitable back to its previous glory.
SAW 4 includes the intricate traps, the wonderful writing and some of the most graphic scenes on film in awhile. If you believed Captivity was gorey, you dont want to watch SAW 4. I saw it with another journalist who spent a nice portion of the film with her hands over her eyes. The autopsy scene and the hair trap and knife trap are three of the nastiest and outstanding place together scenes I have also seen in awhile.
SAW 4 includes well writing and every trap and gorey result includes a logical purpose to it. It is not only gore for the sake of gore. SAW 4 is told through a series of flash backs and Jigsaw is in the film for the majority of it. You receive to learn all about Jigsaw, his past and most importantly what drove him to go from quiet and friendly Engineer to Engineer of death. I believe the reason I enjoyed SAW 4 is because we finally were able to see what causes Jigsaw to tick and why he does what he does in a well detailed movie.

Thanks, I didn't know if I wanted to see the lateset Saw film, now I will.
I am a big fan of all the saw movies. The newest edition saw 5 what a let down.It basically has no grim scenes in and they could have even got away with out a game in this saw. It is basically showing you the relationship between the dective and jigsaw. Please please make sure saw 6 is actually going to be worth it. DONT RUIN THEM
and yes there is a saw 6 which is currently being filmed and is due for releaase in oct 2009
I saw the last 1/2 of Saw I. It didn't impress me much, thoght it did scare me.
The reason I wasn't impressed is that I "saw" a way out for the final 2 characters & it wasn't explained why they didn't do it the easy way. I want the movie to be smarter than I am.
im in love with all the saw movies! cant wait for saw 6
Ive seen all the Saw films, i think they're brilliant i love how they manage to scare and gross people out and then throw in a few twist at the end. I watched Saw 3 the other night to try and remember which one is which, lol, and cannot wait to see Saw 6! Bring it on! hahaha
