A big tummy is caused by two things:

  • Eating too much and drinking too much bear (for the beer belly guys out there) Foods that are high in calories are just stored, stored and stored some more!
  • Not exercising enough: You need to burn off the extra calories taken in or it will just build up.

The only way to correct this is to start eating smaller amounts of carbs and protein and start eating more fruit, vegetable and roughage.

One thing you need to remember is to stop targeting your tummy area and rather do cardio. Your body will first start to burn excess weight on other areas and then finally start to get rid of the extra fat stores on your tummy.

How does your body store fat?

A layer of fat called the omentum lays in front of our intestines and stomach. The omentum stores fat for when you really need it. There are receptors in the omentum that cause a person to want to eat. Researchers have found recently that some of us are genetically predisposed to having these receptors work against us.

But wait there is some good news! Your omentum does want to get smaller…if you exercise at least once every second day and you eat well you can lose as much as two inches off of the omental fat in a month.

Eating fibre is a great way to help yourself stay full…why? When you eat fiber your stomach tends to hold onto it longer than any other food which intern keeps you fuller longer.

Your small intestine secrets 95% of the serotonin in your body! Which means that if you don’t eat you will obviously not be secreting enough feel good stuff! That’s why its so important to eat snacks in-between meals. It keeps your metabolism working all day long and it keeps you happy!
