I was pleasantly surprised with the Spirit of Christmas at Schlitterbaun, New Braunfels, Texas. Lights, falling snowflakes, sledding, and outdoor ice-skating ... everything you need to get into the holiday spirit. Great family fun for all ages, open only in the eveinings. (The lights don't hsow so well until it is dark) The entire park is not designed for wheelchair access, however I noticed a few people were able to enjoy some areas, with assistance.

My Advice: Get there when the park opens (most likely 5pm, but check the schedule). You will want to get your reserved time for ice-skating. Then get in line for the sledding. This is more fun now than it was when I was a kid! Bundle up, but bring your swim suit and towels for the Wassail Hot Tub.

This holiday event is great family fun, and can be a romantic date night out. As a business person, I admire the entrepreneurial inspiration to turn a world class waterpark into a winter wonderland, bringing tourism and excitement to New Braunfels in the winter months.

If you are in Austin or San Antonio, this is an event not to be missed. For those of you travelling in, having a car is the most convenient way to get around in this remote area. Spend the day in Austin or San Antonio, and share the holiday spirit at night at Schlitterbaun's Hill Country Christmas!

This year, I am thankful that Santa and Rudolph have decided to take a break from the North Pole and hang out in Texas!
