Scion xB vs Nissan Cube vs Kia Soul
82And So the "Battle of the Boxes" Begins
As most of you have probably noticed, today's car designers are making cars more boxy and squared looking - unlike ever before. No, not boxy like a Dodge Dynasty or a Ford Bronco, but boxy like the popular Scion xB, Nissan Cube, and the Kia Soul. These little sport wagons are becoming increasingly popular among younger and older crowds. If you are in the market for a new car and have been trying to decide between these three, read this hub. We will compare the price, mileage, safety, and more of these cars.
Price
The xB (and in my opinion, the one who was the idea for the Soul and Cube) starts at $15,750, the Nissan Cube starts at $13,990, and the Kia Soul starts at $13,995. Of course, these are just pure base prices. they may or may not include air conditioning, automatic transmission, a stereo, power windows and locks, and a couple other features. I depends on each car how much the price will go up with the addition of features. Also, some features will come in packages with a discounted price. So overall in the price category, the Cube wins by five bucks, so it is basically a tie between the Cube and the Soul. However, keep in mind that the Scion xB is also a bigger car and is an upgrade from the 1st generation. In a couple years, the Cube and Soul will come out with a new, possibly bigger design and it will cost more than these current vehicles.
Safety
The Kia Soul gets a five star crash test rating in the front driver side, front passenger side, and side driver, and a four star rating in the side rear passenger, and rollover tests. The Scion xB gets a four star front driver and passenger and rollover ratings, and a five star side driver and side rear passenger. Crash test ratings were not available for the Nissan Cube.
Gas Mileage
The Nissan Cube will get you 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The Kia Soul will take you 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The Scion xB will receive 22 mpg city, and 28 mpg highway. These all get very good gas mileage, as you can see. I wouldn't worry about this too much when deciding between these three cars.
Customization
In this category, the xB wins. Period. This is just because it has been around since 2004. Maybe if the Soul and Cube had been since 2004 or 2005, there would be more options for customizing your ride, but if you look at the dashboard of the Soul and the Cube, there is not a whole lot you can do to customize the inside, and the outside is already very "factory custom." The xB is plain enough to customize the outside with carbon fiber, spoilers, and more. There are also options to make the inside if the xB with new lights and crazy things. xB's are by far the most customizable.
Reliability
If you don't know this already, Scion is a brand made by Toyota, which means the xB will more than likely last a long long time. Nissan is a very trustworthy brand as well, but Scion also has more time put into the xB, so more of its bugs have been worked out, and they have gotten a lot more customer feedback. I do not know anything of Kia's reliability, so I cannot speak here. And the Soul has not been out long enough to see how long it will actually last.
Thanks everyone who read this short comparison of the Scion xB, the Nissan Cube, and the Kia Soul. I hope you enjoyed it and learned something that may help you when purchasing one of these fine automobiles.
Thanks,
Parker

Oh really? I thought for sure you would like the xB. ;)
That's interesting, I thought you wouldn't like Kia commercials because a bunch of them have a fake Obama in them saying "Yes you can." Hahaha!
parker, you do realize the cube has been out in japan since 1998. the scion and element were released a year or two thereafter. so, it was really the cube that was the idea for the xb and soul. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Cube
All of these cars have been around for a very long time in Japan and Korea, so the reliability is far better than just judging by their US release dates.
