What's stopping you?

It happens to all of us. We get stuck. Maybe we have a great idea for a scrapbook but just can't seem to get started. Or we've started a scrapbook and just can't seem to get finished. Whatever it is that's holding you up, read on for some great ideas on getting unstuck.

I Can't Write You don't have to be a prize-winning author to journal in a scrapbook. When working with a picture, use a separate piece of paper to capture any thoughts and phrases that come to mind. They don't have to make sense yet, just get them down on paper. You can also keep a small notebook in your purse or by your nightstand - you never know when inspiration will strike. If you think your handwriting isn't neat enough for journaling, try printing or using all capital letters instead of cursive. Or, use your computer to create headlines in a decorative font.

I'm Not Very Creative This is one of the most common thoughts that keeps us from getting started. The great thing about scrapbooking is that you can find examples and ideas all over the place. The library has books filled with scrapbook ideas, and there's no shortage of specialty stores and web sites that show sample pages. You can even get computer software that comes with a host of templates to use as starting points.

I'm Out Of Ideas Perhaps the best way to fan the flames of creativity and generate fresh ideas is to get together with other scrapbookers. Most scrapbook specialty stores offer workshops and other group activities, or you could host a gathering of your own. Inviting others to share albums and ideas over coffee, or focus in on one thing like cropping, journaling, punching, or layouts.

I Don't Have Time This is a tough one for most people. Try scheduling scrapbooking into your week as you would any other appointment. If you can, set aside some work space that is dedicated to scrapbooking. This allows you to keep your materials convenient and accessible rather than always having to pull them out of storage and put them away again. Another option is to make scrapbooking a family activity where each person can work on their own album or help with your album. It's very common to get stuck at some point of a scrapbooking project, whether it's getting started or getting finished. Don't give up and don't despair because there are many ways to get yourself moving again.
