Almost everyone in their life time will have surgery. The surgical procedure may be as minor as an ingrown toenail,or as major as an open heart operation. Doctors are needed to perform the surgery,and Surgical Technologist are needed to help the doctors. The Surgical Technologist, Scrub, is responsible for setting up sterile fields operation and maintaining them during the entire procedure.

The Surgical Technologist is a vital part of the surgical team. They help prepare the operating room along side the circulating nurse and anesthesiologist. They are the link from the surgeon to the rest of the operating team. During the procedure they play an active role.The surgical Technologist, or Scrub, anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Sometimes it appears that the Surgical technologist can read the surgeons mind.

There are various types of Scrubs. Some pass instruments, while others act as the surgeons assistant.
