Wordpress is one of the most powerfull blogging tools on the planet and it´s Free! Here´s an introduction to Wordpress and easy going, "no geek", video tutorials.

Wordpress has a clever plugin feature that makes it highly customizable to any user. I can even recommend using Wordpress as your one and only tool for your entire website.

With the use of different “themes” you get the colors and the layout you want

You can use plugins, that give you an arsenal of very advanced features like, video, podcasting, mp3-player, databases etc..

It´s also a lot easier to make your site SEO-optimized. SEO means “Search Engine Optimization” and has a direct connection to your google ranking, that feature alone might be quite tricky to handle if you use the more traditional website tool kits.

Blogging is in itself a very powerful way to get very good rankings on google, because google like blogging and bloggers. Bloggers tend to update content very often, they update articles, podcasting, photos, videos and so on.

If you start a new domain name it might take several month before you are even listed on google. With a blog you might be listen after one day….

• get a domain name of your choice
• put wordpress as your main website tool
• put up a blog and start writing about things you like to talk about
• update as often as you can and feel comfortable with

the best: two - four times a day(pro bloggers)

good: one time a day

descent: two or three times a week (Some people actually mean this to be more effective becasue of the delay in the system, when you publish for internet. But that´s another Hub)

not so good: once a month (consider if blogging is for you….)

Google will favour you, the more you update and contribute with good content.

Use a good wordpress “theme” that bring you tools for the rest of your site, with sidebar options, static website pages with presentations of your choice, customizing colors and just about every important aspect of design.

There´re a lot of Free themes to use.

There´s also PRO themes that might save you some time, the layout is made in a highly usefull manner and it also comes with lots of preinstalled plugins to use right away.

Go PRO if your site is for business use.

This is a powerful feature that give you the oportunity to take an excerpt of your blogpost and show it on another site, with a backlink to your site, for the possabillity to read the whole thing.

This is quite easy to setup, for example, with your facebook account. You just post on your blog and it will automatically show up on your facebook profile. You can make this setup to be updated every hour, a very cool feature :-)

It sounds rather high tech, but it really is not.

You just go to wordpress.org and download your copy and use the famous 5-minute install…

Please note that wordpress.COM, is another place than wordpress.ORG.

.COM is made for people that want to register their blog on to the wordpress site, which means your blog will be hosted on the wordpress site.

I do NOT recommend this, because you want the website traffic to go through your OWN site. If you go through the wordpress site, the traffic will go to wordpress.com and they will get the google ranking out of the blogging you do and you don´t want that.

The blog/website you set up, should be on your own domain name with your own installation of wordpress, that´s the only way to get better ranking on google using blogging.

Assumingly you will put a lot of time and effort into your plogposts so why not also get the ranking you deserve for that job.

Make shure that everything you do within wordpress is “tagged” in a good way.

What do I mean by that?

I mean, if you write a blogpost, create a new page or whatever, in wordpress you will have the possibility to give that post a “description” using keywords.

Use theese words/keywords with great care.

Let´s say your topic is wedding planning. You might want to tag that post with keywords like, “wedding, marriage, wedding plans, church wedding, how to plan a wedding….and so on”

You DO NOT want to use words that aren´t relevant to your topic, like “free, download for free, or something like…. the president naked….etc”

Some people use tage like this, because they belive they will get more traffic to their site, or blogpost.

What will happen is this, some people search on google and find your post, but they will turn in the door, because they don´t find any picture of the president naked...as you promised :-)

Google will “crawl” your site and when they match keywords with content and find that the match is awfully bad, they will give you a very low ranking.

Let´s say you, have successfully, put your wordpress site into action.

Now, sky´s the limit….

Whatever message you have to say to the world, wordpress is the plattform to use.

You already have the right framework, now, fill it with good content.

It doesn´t matter if you have a product you want to brand or you just want your voice heard. This tool is going to give you success.

I´ll give you an example of wordpress and internet marketing.

Let´s say you work as a personal lifestyle coach. You give people advice on how to achieve their goals in life, in business and in personal life.

Start a blog and spread the word of your knowledge. Use the tips I have given you here and use the forums and all the information on internet to make your wordpress blogging world-class.

Make a podcast once a week that you post on your blog and then distribute to the world, for example using iTunes.

Make one video every week and upload that video to the video networks available, like youtube.

This video don´t have to be long, it don´t have to be technical, you can even do it using your webcam or built in macbook camera.

Just spread the word, make it good content, short and focused.

Make a link to your site in the video so that people have a possibility to go to your site if they are interested in doing so….this is a very powerful thing

Note that, video don´t always have to be recorded video of you talking in front of the camera. It might be, just as powerfull, to make a video of a powerpoint presentation or a macintosh keynote presentation with audio attached to it.

Place some google adsense advertising on your site or in your posts. Do this with a touch of sensitivity. The great thing with google adsense is that the advertising is automatically relevant to your topic.

If you make theese things I talk about above, you WILL get noticed on google for the keywords your business is in and google will favour you for bringing good content.

This whole process is lowcost, you can do almost everything I have talked about for FREE, but you might want to pay for a PRO theme if this is for your business.

You might also want to invest some time in this because it will take time to, write blogposts and make video BUT you will be greatly rewarded for doing so, and that´s a promise.
