Search Optimization Off Page Factors

Now the SEO we normally talk about is what we call “on page SEO”. Now, the idea being on page SEO is to make sure your website is search engine friendly to start off with.
On page SEO is basically the process of optimizing the content of your website and it includes keyword placement at h1, h2 , anchor, title and alt tags. In other words it includes such things as having your keyword in your URL, having your keyword in the title of the page and using your keyword within the body of your web page.
The most important part of this process is providing good and relevant content to your website visitors who can share this information on blogs etc.
However, I have to mention that on page search engine optimization is not as effective as off-page search engine optimization, so we should spend most of our time on off page factors.
Search Optimization - Off page SEO
Now we come to the stuff that you probably have no real control over. These are the things you cannot alter or play with to a degree. Simply described, off page SEO refers to the content and text from sites that link to your site. The search engines look at what OTHER web pages are pointing back to yours and how relevant they are.
Then the actual content is evaluated. The more relevant those sites are to yours, the higher ranking you r web page(s) will receive. That is how you get into the top 5 of the search results, folks.
Now this off page SEO is very hard for you to completely control. Since it is mainly a case of the quality of “backlinks” to your site, you can go after sites that are the most relevant to yours. You can ask for the link back or just bait the site into linking to you.
Keep in mind that search engines also look at the link “text” that points back at your site. Too many of the same word or phrase and you run the risk of being labeled an SEO SPAMMER. If you ask for the backlink, specify the anchor text and keep it fresh.
In searching for quality links back, do not use FFA (Free For All) sites or any type of database that leaves links unverified. Not good, Dooley, not good at all.
Also avoid slapping your URL in every blog or other social networking spot.
