SEASONAL DECORATING FOR THE HOME

Has it occurred to you when you get home from work one spring afternoon, the winter decorations greet you? I guess this is the start of your wakeup call!

Well, the answer may be easy - remove the winter decorations and put on the ones for spring. Time is the problem. Not all of us may be blessed with a really nice schedule or may not have enough free time that we often resort to adapting a "normal home look" mode for the longest time until it is winter, Christmas and New Year once again.

Let us try to use the technique most decorators do - go with the mood of the season using the design tools: color and style. Every season has its own color.

Spring is regarded as a new and vibrant season. The pastels are at its peak during this time of the year.

Summer is the time for harvest and abundance. Colors are vivid and striking, and those that represent heat, temperature and warmth.

Fall and the never-ending leaf colors of orange, red and brown. This time, autumn leaves are seen everywhere. Trees are bare and everyone is getting prepared for winter!

Winter comes, colors turn dull and sad. Grays become an instant hit and any colors that are toned (toned meaning - gray is added to any color like red, blue, green). Since the weather is cold, it becomes a necessity to make things warm and comfortable.

Spring

Spring is the new season. We take away the gloomy colors of winter and replace it with the lighter kinds in the form of pastel colors. This is when our windows welcome the sunlight. Bed linens get the lighter colors and floral designs finds it place.

Summer

Summer brings schedules packed with activities and holidays! This is during this time of the year that striking colors and vibrant shades come to life. During summer, flowers are brought indoors as decoration. Remember sunflowers? Since the temperature is rising, there is no apparent need to keep the home warmer. This is the best time to roll the rugs and let the wooden floors breathe.

Fall

Fall makes orange, red and brown so trendy! In most countries, Halloween is celebrated during this season - thus the surge of jack-o-lanterns, dried corn on the cob to name a few. It is also an orange-y time of the year because leaves literally fall out and thus their color. Since the temperature starts to drop, the rugs find their way back to the floors, and this season brings rain attempts and umbrella stands become visible by the front door.

Winter

Winter comes and the home's focal point is now drawn to the fireplace. Framed photos find their way on the top of the fireplace. Lamps suddenly appear as winter sun does not stay long. You find slipcovers on the sofa for added warmth. During this time, it is just irresistible to lie around and this would be a very good reason for you to add and at the same time decorate with more throw pillows!

Learn by heart that decorating should be fun and that it allows you to convey your own character. Let loose your unique interpretation and start decorating!
