Prenatal Care and Pregnancy

Before you get Pregnant you should start taking care of yourself:

  1. Eat healty
  2. Get into Shape(exercise)
  3. Stop smoking or drinking
  4. take vitamins
  5. take care of your skin

Prenatal care helps keep mother and baby healthy during pregnancey and consists of multiple doctor appointments, medical tests, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Babies of mothers who do not get prenatal care are 3 times more likely to have a low birth weight and 5 times more likely to die than those born to mothers who do get care. Most experts suggest pregnant women see their doctor once a month for the first 6 months of pregnancy. then every 2 weeks for the 7th and 8th months, then you should see the doctor weekly until the baby is born. Unless otherwise stated by your physician. Sometimes, depending upon your health you may be asked to see your physician more often.

Many women wait until they are in their 30's or 40's to have children. Many women may have no problem getting pregnant, some might encounter problems. Age declines fertility. Women should consult their physician when trying to get pregnant in late child baring years.

Teen pregnancy is a problem when young ladies are scared to tell their parents and then of course parents flipping out over this scareing them to death.

Teens should really get educated and receive care as soon as possible. This is important to both the young baby and of course the older one too.

Menopause

Menopause literally means cessation of menstrual cycle.

The change of life

How fun is this!

When you get up in years usually between 40-50, a womens body experiences Menopause. Natural Menopause may be reached when a woman has not had a cycle for 12 months or more. This may result from surgeries or medical treatments. Surgeries such as Hysterectomy's, and medical treatment such as chemotherapy. Some women experience different symptoms. Some are all symptoms they experience may be:

  1. hotflashes
  2. night sweats
  3. insomnia
  4. vaginal dryness
  5. hair loss
  6. mood swings

This happens because as your body ages, the body makes less of the hormones progesterone, and estrogen. Estrogen loss weakens bones, this may lead to osteoporosis, so women should take extra calcium every day to help make your bones strong

Many women choose to treat their symptoms with hormone replacements. You can also try soy products, herbal medicines, and antidepressant. All treatments have benefits and risk involved and you should always consult your physician before taking anything even vitamins.

Breast and Cervical Cancer

This is the most common cancer in women. Beside skin cancer. Women should always do self breast exams. Keep up with your body. Know it well, this could save your life. After the age of 40 all women should get a mammogram done along with regular exams done by your doctor.

Cervical cancer is cancer of the area that connects your vagina to the lower portion of your uterus. Women should get regular pap smears by your doctor. This is important for any age.

There is also something called human papillomavirus HPV.Some cervical cancer may cause this condition. There is a new vaccine called Gardasil, young women between the ages of 9-26 should get this. Any change in your body or if you have any health questions make sure you get answers.
