Keeping Hackers Out Of Your Wireless Home Electronics

Wireless Electronics in your home.

Simple tips to secure your home or office network network.

Most wireless routers come with a default password and there-in lies the problem with the security of your home network. This enables hackers to access your wireless network. This can wreak havoc on your network and they can steal your personal information.

Here are some precautions you can take:

Tip #1. The first thing you need to do to enable security on your wireless electronics is to change your username and password. All routers ship with default username and passwords. These hackers know what these default names are. Make your new info unique and familiar.

Tip #2. Assign your network a different name. Routers usually ship with a default SSID. That is basically the name of your network. Go in and change the name because most likely everyone in your neighborhood has the same name because they did not change it.

Tip #3. Set up Encryption. Change your SSID first. There are 3 types of encryption. WEP, WPA & WPA2. Don't worry about these geeky terms. Just know that it encrypts your data. Anybody on the outside trying to hack you cannot access your data. It is secure and you are protected.

Is it easy to set up encryption on your wireless electronics? Yes. Every router usually comes with a setup wizard and you simply follow the steps provided by the manufacturer. make sure that whatever new passwords you use, you write them down somewhere because you will forget them.

Ok, I hope you understand why it's so important to set up wireless security on your electronic devices. There are bad people out there and they want your personal information. Keep it to yourself folks. Protect yourself because no one else will.

If you are in a neighborhood or an apartment complex, you don't want the 17 year old computer genius using your credit card to buy stuff on the internet.

This is easy. Your Grandma can do it and you don't want to be embarrassed by your Grandma do you? You have no excuses, so get busy.
