Let Me Give You Some Advice

Advice.

We all give it.

We all recieve it.

Some times we offer advice despite the fact our opinion was never solicited.  I’m not saying to give or recieve opinions or advice is wrong.  Quite often it can be very helpful to find out what a trusted family member or friend thinks of a particular situation you might be facing or regarding a decision that needs to be made.

However, we do need to be careful who’s advice we seek.  Is the person a Christian?  WIll they give you godly counsel based on God’s principles found in the Bible?  Can this person be trusted…especially if what you’re sharing is of a sensitive nature?

We really do need to be careful who we go to when we are in need of advice or counsel.  It’s very easy to find yourself going down a wrong path, because someone told you it was the right thing to do, based on their own experience or opinions…but is it really what God would have you to do?

In my own life I have discovered the best place to start, no matter the decision, is with prayer and discovering what God says in His word.  When you go to God first, with an open heart and mind…willing to accept whatever His direction might be…you find the answer.  Some times it’s good to confirm what you believe God is saying by going to someone you know or trust.   Other times you have to wait awhile for that answer or understanding in your situation, but it’s always the best option to seek God’s counsel or advice whatever you are doing.

Psalm 1: 1-2
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.

To expand on your idea, God advises all of us through Divine Guidance...ultimately the best advice, if we are able ask for it and to trust in it. Nice hub.

Good hub and so true.  I am learning the truth of "God's ways are not my ways" and they may not be that well-meaning person's ways either.  I love it when God confirms through others that which He has already laid on my heart.  I have a person in my life - I call her my battle buddy.  I know she is the best place for me to go because she doesn't tell me only what I want to hear and sometimes she doesn't give advice at all-only tells me to seek God.

God chooses the foolish things to confound the wise.

Left Behind: God doesn't cpnfuse the foolish things to confuse the wise, it is Satan who mess it up and God who guides us back.:)

GREAT HUB my friend!!!! Being A Pastoral Counselor, I first have to seek the guidance of the Lord before I can help anyone. He sends the Holy Spirit to guide me and then I can perform my duties. Praise God!
