Designer Lunch Bags: Selecting the Right One

Women have single handedly transformed hundreds of sewers of random fabrics into world-renowned fashion designers. It all depends on what women want. And as everyone on earth knows, that’s something that only a woman could possibly know. Fashion doesn’t have to be more expensive than the rest; it doesn’t have to be made of rare and luscious material. It only needs to tickle our fancy, standing out as “cute,” “sexy,” and, if dealing in totes, “functional.”

Designer lunch bags, otherwise known as totes, sell like hotcakes, straight off the shelves and onto the shoulders of working women all over the globe. Men, too, but they’re just as suited with a greasy brown paper bag carrying a week-old cheese steak. If you’re looking for a great tote, how exactly do you know what to purchase? After all, designer lunch bags are not all created equal.

For starters, we’re looking for one thing above all else: functionality. Look, you can purchase the most expensive, trendiest lunch bag from the new “in” designer, but it could be absolutely worthless. Lunch bags and regular handbags are different monsters entirely. You don’t want to purchase a tote on looks or hype alone. You need it to actually serve a purpose. To that end, it’s important to select a bag that does what you need it to do.

Are you going to be taking your bag to work everyday? If so, you’ll be in the market for something durable; something that can stand up to the constant carrying, opening and closing, and regular wear and tear of life. Most designer lunch bags—the new Mario Batali collection, for example—can meet this standard. To know, of course, you will have to do a bit of research. If you have a bag in mind, read a few user reviews on it. Bag owners will let you know if the product makes the grade or not.

Now we move on to pricing options. Needless to say, some designer lunch bags are going to cost you the arm that you tote with! I don’t care if you have a sugar daddy, your tax refund, and a $500 lotto ticket from Quick-E-Mart, purchasing an expensive lunch tote is simply a waste. There’s no easier way to put it. No matter which bag you have your eye on, you can probably find one extremely similar—look and material—for a lesser price. Also, the places you’re shopping the bag makes a big difference. Check multiple locations for the best price.

Whether you’re a business woman who likes packing her own lunch or a regular Jane who enjoys the occasional picnic or hiking trip, there’s a designer lunch bag out there with your name all over it. Just remember that it should be functional and affordable. Anything less—or more, as it were—is a complete waste.
