Self Defense Fighting

Self Defense Fighting is not what most people picture in their minds. It is not mixed martial arts. Mixed martial arts is a sport. It is not Bruce Lee in a martial arts movie. That is entertainment. Self defense fighting is part common sense and part physical moves that can get you out of harms way as fast as possible.

If someone attacks you in a parking lot you probably won't be able to use your favorite MMA move you saw on TV unless you train on a daily basis. Self defense first utilizes common sense. It teaches you to be aware of your surroundings. Is the parking lot well lit? Is there anyone else you can walk out to the parking lot with? Are there any people out in the parking lot who may look suspicious? This third one may seem like you are stereo typing people. I feel like it is just a way to listen to your instinct. It doesn't mean that those people are criminals. It means your instinct is telling you to be careful and be aware of the people around you.

The second part is the physical moves. The first two are easy. Run if you can. Yell for help if you can. The rest is where you need to decide how much time and effort you are willing to put into your safety. You don't have to become a black belt in a martial art but you do need to learn some basic moves. Take a class. Buy a home study course. Whatever fits you best. Just make sure you are prepared to defend yourself.
