The Most Effective Self Defense Moves

When someone thinks of self defense moves they usually envision high flying kicks and fancy punches. Martial arts have come so far since the old days of traditional forms and kung fu. I can still recall when everyone referred to every martial art as either karate, kung fu or judo.

Well, things have changed; or evolved actually. Countless styles of self-defense are put to the test in modern times, and many have been proven insufficient. Actually all of them have inadequacies in one way or another when it comes to individual self defense. What we have to realize is that all styles are not created equal, all self defense moves are not high percentage, and mastering a martial art will not make you invulnerable to attack. The reality of a life threatening situation is that anyone can lose in a physical confrontation.

Learn "The Secret Power Of Simple Self Defense Tactics"

This e-book has some great information that shows you more that just physical self defense moves. It teaches you strategies that will keep you out of harms way and how to recognize potentially dangerous situations before they occur.

The sales page is a bit over the top and the title of the book is misspelled (what do you expect from trained fighters), but the book actually covers all of the basics and more. It outlines everything nicely and gives practical information.

Using Your Mind Is Your First Self Defense Move

When one thinks of self defense moves often times an image of a karate master comes to mind. Many believe that physical movements and techniques are what is needed to defend yourself. The truth of things is that there are no secret techniques that will make you invincible. It takes years of hard work and dedication to become proficient in martial arts. What many fail to realize however, is that physical techniques are your last resort to keeping yourself safe.

Your mind is so much more powerful than most folks give it credit for. Would you be shocked to discover that great self defense moves are not the key to surviving the streets? Sure, they play a part in defending yourself from attackers, but they're not the main factor. Knowing your environment, being aware of your surroundings, and knowing where not to venture at certain times are crucial. But most importantly, it's imperative to follow your gut. If your intuition steers you in one direction, pay attention. It's there to assist you in staying safe. You have to learn to trust your gut feeling and keep aware of your environment at all times.

How To Find Womens Self Defense Moves That Work

Women are usually more vulnerable to attack in everyday situations so it is important for them acquire the proper knowledge to stay safe. If you are a woman, and seeking effective self defense moves to protect yourself from potential attacks on the street, then I strongly urge you to find a women's self-defense program, as opposed to a traditional martial arts class.

While martial arts training is great in some respects, it's probably not what you're looking for. Unless you're training for competitions or MMA events, turn to something a bit less drawn-out and involved.

A basic women's self-defense course will be fairly brief so you can absorb it. A qualified instructor will teach you practical self defense moves that if used correctly can definitely save your life on the street. He/she will go over potential weapons that you already have on your person, how to escape dangerous situations, when to fight back and when to run screaming.

Staying safe on the street doesn't mean infinite years of kung fu training. It means basic knowledge, a few high percentage self defense moves, and trusting your intuition. Anyone who takes the time to learn can stay safe from potential attackers and life threatening situations.

Is Mace Spray Good For Self Defense?

It's pretty clear to me at this point that everyone has their own take on American society. I'm not going to sugar coat it; I think this is a dangerous country. No, we don't have soldiers constantly roaming around with assault rifles always ready to rumble. However, we do have plenty of criminal element. The news is a constant reminder of why the streets aren't safe. Now, some people will try their very best to ignore violence and the horrors people do to one another, but this will get you nowhere. It won't make you any safer. Then again, nor will dwelling on the issue. The important thing is to be alert and aware of what takes place in our world. Don't expect the officials to race upon the scene at the moment you need protection. This is not realistic. After all, we're all only human. Your safety generally lies in your own hands. Whether those hands are empty or gripping a can of Mace spray is totally up to you. Get the point? We all have an innate right to defend ourselves.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mace spray in action. Just to be clear, Mace is a brand name like Levis or Ford. The Mace spray I saw used was police issue pepper spray. And let me tell you, it gets the job done. I watched this demonstration at my father's work. He was in law enforcement his whole life, until he recently retired. Going into the demonstration, I never expected to see vomiting. However, the man who acted as "the assailant" fell to his knees like one sick puppy. He was hurling all over the place. Not to mention he couldn't get his eyes open to function as an attacker. In short, the Mace spray was very effective. This is why I have my wife carry a personal model everywhere. If you're worried about the can going off in your purse, don't. These days they come with a safety cap. You have to flip this up with your thumb before spraying. As I told my wife, be certain of how you're holding the Mace spray and pay attention if there is wind. These are important factors to consider.

Many people will discourage you from carrying a firearm, Mace spray, or a stun gun. I am definitely not here to do that. I think that you should be very careful if you tote around a self-defense device, but I think that you should feel safe as well. Please don't conform to the whole "The world is a wonderful and harmless place" spiel. Being ignorant will only get you hurt or killed.
