Self Talk And Improving Self Esteem
78Most people tend to put themselves down. We do this without knowing it. This is bad for self esteem and confidence. In order to improve our health and well being, we have to improve our relationship with ourselves. That seems like a strange thing to say but we do have a real relationship with ourselves. We constantly talk to ourselves. We may not talk to ourselves out loud but we do it mentally. I will help you understand what self talk is and how you can use it to improve your self esteem and confidence. A high self esteem is beneficial in so many ways. It can give you the drive to do anything you want. The feeling of confidence starts from within and people with high confidence often describe that they feel "invincible".
What Is Self Talk?
When you read a book or page, do you sometimes say the words in your head in order to understand it? When people say the words they read in their head, it reassures them. It validates what they read. Likewise, when you talk to yourself, you reassure something that you feel. When you are faced with a problem, do you somethings say to yourself, "Can I do this or not?" This is self talk. Everyone does this and it is natural and healthy. The key to improving self talk is to start incrementally. You cannot be a stud in one day however you can start improving your self esteem today. Right now. Here are some tips.
Believe In Yourself
Start Improving Your Self Esteem Today
When we wake up, most people usually go to the bathroom and relieve themselves. We then wash our hands while looking through a mirror. This is very important folks and I want you to pay attention. When you first see yourself in the mirror when you wake up, do you say something nice about yourself or do you put yourself down? This is very important because in all honesty, most people put themselves down. Most people look at the imperfections of ourselves and it is amplified. We are our own biggest critic.
Repetition Is The Key
We must understand that there is a big difference between being humble and being critical. It's important to be humble in public but this is private. This is your mind. Try this. Every day while looking at that bathroom mirror, instead of calling yourself, "Fat, ugly" or whatever, say, "I'm hot!" or "I look good!" Do it every day. Every day. I can't stress that enough. This is repetition. The key to this exercise is to say it often enough, you will start to believe it. It's true anyways! You are hot! You are sexy! See how that can pick up your day? If you feel it inside, you will eventually externalize it.
Realize The Truth
These little self talks will eventually change your attitude towards yourself. You will eventually feel happier and more confident. It also has another positive side effect. When you start to believe in yourself, other people's opinions will have little negative impact on you. For instance, if someone were to make a negative comment about you, "You're ugly, fat, scrawny, etc" you will not be fazed by it. You know that it is not true because you have repeated the positive self talk in your head so many times. That person does not know what he/she is talking about. Cockiness is a good thing people. The only reason people frown on cocky people is because they want what you have. Self confidence. Power. Drive. Self control. I describe this feeling as the realization of the truth. I am hot and that is the truth. The truth will always be true no matter what. This is the level you want to achieve.
Stay Positive
Remember folks, stay positive. It is hard and far more difficult than it seems. Improving self talk will improve self confidence, self esteem, drive, self control, and you personal health. Little things will make a big difference. Start with small positive comments about yourself and work your way up. Repeat it. This is important. You will never believe in these positive comment if you just say it once. Say, "I'm hot!" and repeat it a thousand times. It will manifest. Good luck and I hope you enjoyed reading this article!
