"Selling is the art of making buying a wonderful experience you want to have over and over again"

Please feel free to quote that any time.
I like sales, I've always been good at selling things, and I think everybody can.
There is just a few things to keep in mind to be a successfull salesperson.
- Don't loose time, don't digress, and try to close the deal at any time.
Usually a person will make up their mind about buying something from you within the first 5 min. of the conversation
A little smalltalk is ok, but never digress to far off the topic.
- Don't be boring!, Salespeople should be entertainers, you have to make your customer interested in you, sell your product, and more importantly sell yourself!
But never outshine your product or service ! It's tough, like Yoda said: "the balance has to be maintained, easy it will be not"
Don't speak monotone, do not use the word but all the time, ( trust me it sneaks itself into almost every 4 sentence ) try to use and, or other more positive words that could fill in.
Express yourself with your body and hands, don't try to jackie chan your customer though.
- Give your customer a feeling of urgency, that if he doesn't buy what your selling, he'll miss out on a great opportunity or chance!
Make him feel like that this opportunity is not going to be here anymore tomorrow or in a week.
- Make sure you always mention all your other satisfied customers, and those that are waiting in line to buy your product or service.
- Stay in contact with your customers, it's essential for networking, get on their friendslist on myspace if they have one.
Send birthday wish cards, happy anniversary whatever, just make sure they don't forget you.
So if next time some of their friends are talking on a topic relevant to ur product or service, they are sure to mention you!, and bring you new customers.
- What are you selling? What is it doing for your customer? And how will it impact their lives?
- Don't talk jargon, make it simple for the customer to understand you.
Would you buy from a person that makes you feel stupid?
- If a customers actually needs more time, stay persistent, the best salespeople are also some of the best persuaders.
Some Quotes:
"Ensure that your product knowledge doesn't overwhelm the prospect but is applied toward solving the problems the prospect is faced with. If a man is drowning, you wouldn't discuss the relative benefits of your rope."
-Michael Anderson, salesperson for CaseStack Inc., a logistics solutions outsourcing company in Los Angeles
In sales, a referral is the key to the door of resistance.
Bo Bennett
Fun without sell gets nowhere but sell without fun tends to become obnoxious.
Leo Burnett
You only have one thing to sell in life, and that's yourself.
Henry Kravis

I love all that you bring to hubpages. Selling is my weak point. Maybe some of what you said will sink in.
