Mail In Your Gold

Have you seen Ed McMahon telling you how easy and how much money you will make by selling your gold to CASH4GOLD.com?  Can it be true?  Companies in the "Mail your gold" business are promoting their services as if it was today's gold rush.  Many of these companies are telling you to send in your old, broken, gifts from ex (boyfriend, girlfriend, Spouse) jewelry in for a cash payout.

Today's Gold Rush

Before you jump on the "gold rush" bus, know this -- There is no set standard for the payout price.  Payout can vary widely from company to company.  A recent test, using an 18k gold chain was broken into 3 equal part.  The gold chain pieces were then taken to a local pawn shop.  At the pawn shop the gold pieces were weighted, and verified as 18K gold.  The 3 gold pieces were then sent to three different "Mail Your Gold" companies.  The three companies were Cash4Gold.com, TurnGold2Cash.com, and GoldKit.com.

Gold Pricing

Each piece of gold chain was worth approximately $50.00 each.  This price is what the local pawn shop offer to buy the pieces for.  Here are the results from the "Mail Your Gold" companies.

Results - Mail Your Gold In For Cash

  • Local Pawn Shop - $150.00
  • TurnGold2Cash - $37.67
  • Cash4Gold - $11.50
  • GoldKit - $5.70

The Gold Rush is Over
The Gold Rush is Over

The results are clear.  If you are in need of quick cash -- your local pawn shop is still your best bet.  There can be only one -- Gold Rush that is.

I think the whole business concept of mailing in real jewelry is scary. At least at the pawn shop you are face to face with a person.
