Selling Homeade Craft Items Online
59Making money online should be easy. I mean, all those late night infomercials tell us so, right?
The problem is, the method in which to make the money differs drastically depending on what you are selling. Should you desire to sell your homemade crafts, you must be willing to go through a trial and error process to see what works for you.
The first thing you should do if you do not have one already, is set up a Paypal account. Through paypal you can accept all types of payments, including credit cards. Paypal will also give you a link to post on your websites, blogs, or anywhere else that you are promoting your items.
Here is a list of places you can utilize to sell your homemade crafts:
1. Ebay. This is the obvious one, but may be the most difficult. At any given time you are competing with a million other sellers. Also, be sure to calculate the proper shipping and handling fee, many have been burned by not doing this properly. Ebay is a great place to start when selling your homemade crafts.
2. Try setting up your own website. You may want to start with a free one, or an inexpensive one if you are wanting to keep your costs low to begin with. If you are selling two separate crafts, such as Football Steeler Snowmen or Christmas Wreaths, you may want to try two different websites to draw in people for both.
3. Use Craigslist. This has become very popular recently, and has been a great way to sell, buy or shop locally. Almost every major city has a craigslist, find the one nearest you and post your listing. Because you are selling online, you can even venture out and post in other city's craigslist as well to broaden your buyer pool.
4. Use email groups. Join an email group that is all about crafting. You can learn lots of new things, and if you put a signature in your email that includes your web link, your are automatically driving traffic to your site every time you post!
5. Visit other crafters websites. They have already done all the work to set up their sites and drive traffic to themselves, and maybe they will want to include your crafts on their site. Be prepared to pay them a little commission off of each sale (need not be much). After all, it is only fair since they are paying for website maintenance!
There are many ways to sell crafts online, and the best way to figure out what will work for you is by trial and error. Hopefully, after the time is spent learning the ropes and learning what works, you will be making a nice, hefty profit from your crafts!
