Selling information products on eBay

I see many people on the Internet selling information products. I think eBay is one of the best websites to sell such products. I compiled a small list of categories on eBay where you can list information products like eBooks, Audio Books, Video Tapes, and DVDs etc.

  • Business & Industrial/Other
  • Business & Industrial/Businesses & Website for Sale/
  • Computers & Office Products/Software/PC/Other
  • Computers & Office Products/TechnologyBooks
  • Computers & Office Products/Services/Informational
  • Everything Else/Services/Information Services
  • Everything Else/EBay User Tools

Now, that is not a complete list and I expect my readers to understand that these are not the only categories where you can list information products. Sometimes, you need to be creative while selecting the categories for your products.

For example, if you recently purchased a Plasma TV or a computer system, chances are that you may have done a great research before buying the product. So, why not create a report on your research and analysis that can be sold off for about $8 to $10.

If you create a report “How to save 40% on your next PC purchase", you can possibly list in the following categories:

  • Books/Other
  • Everything Else/Services/Information
  • Services Electronics & Computers/Home Electronics
  • Electronics & Computers/Home Electronics/Home
  • Computers & Office Products/Software/PC/Other
  • Computers & Office Products/TechnologyBooks
  • Electronics & Computers/Home

So, if you know the category where you can find your intended product on eBay, this can potentially be the category where you sell your information product.

If you're selling a book about saving expenses on baby clothes and furnishing, advertise in the categories that sell these products, plus a few generic categories that are listed above.

Please use this only as a guide or a starting point. This can no way be taken as a financial or business advice. I know you understand that, but just in case… ;)
