It's difficult enough trying to figure out which senior dating services are good and then which one might be right for you. You then have the complications of figuring out how to create a profile that will show off your personality as well attract potential partners. However, once you do actually make a match with someone you then have to figure out where to go on a date.

Senior dating services are rather vague on this aspect of the situation. While they tend to do a fairly good job of assisting you in creating a profile, biography, and introducing you to other people, once you match you with someone you are pretty much left on your own. So where can you go for dates?

Rest assured that your options are not limited as a senior and the vast amount of senior dating services available should attest to that. While your interests might be different than someone who is in their twenties, you still have plenty of dating options when you are trying to decide on where to go.

First, you want to ensure that you are going somewhere in which you will actually be able to have a conversation. For that reason, a movie is typically not a good idea for a first date. Some senior dating services suggest going to place where you can both see things as well as talk as good first date options. Places like this include parks, zoos, museums, and even festivals. When you visit these types of places, you will be “doing” something, but you will also be able to have a conversation as well.

If you have already been on your first date then your options as far as dating ideas should expand. A winery, or a vineyard, can be an excellent place for a date. You can not only tour the vineyard itself, but you can participate in a wine tasting and many wineries also contain onsite restaurants.

Going antique shopping can be another great date. Finding a small town with several shops close together will allow you to get out and walk around, go antiquing, and later have lunch together.

In the summertime, there are usually a lot of outdoor options. Check local listing for events such as “Pops in the Park” where you can take a picnic and listen to symphony music, or an outdoor cinema. There might also be musical or theater performances available as well.

Hiking or walking can be an excellent date idea, but keep in mind that it might not be a great idea for the first couple of dates. Senior dating services advise against going anywhere isolated until you really get to know the person.

As senior dating services will inevitably point out, being a senior should not imply that you are no longer interested in the dating scene. Feel free to be as creative as you want when it comes to planning dates. Getting to know your partner in the “real” world should also help you have a better understanding of their interests, too.
