Separating Secular from Spiritual
59Humans need a balance between fulfilling their spiritual needs and their secular ones. Items such as money and institutions are secular items do not address all of your needs. We should feel free to make and spend money, but investing time and thought is a different matter. We are living in a global community and many people have the necessary tools to congregate. Will the next transformation in human culture be a cyber-religion? Will we begin forming online congregations and cyber-churches? Theoretically, an online congregation could be a free organization with a network of like-minded individuals. Each person would provide a small investment of time and the result would be no need for expenses.
Health and fitness are also important
with our physical well being. We often spend all of our time working
with our mind (both secular and metaphysical) and neglect our bodies.
Remember that our brain needs adequate blood flow and a healthy body
is a more efficient blood pump. There are many excellent articles on Hubpages pertaining to maintaining your physical health. A quick search will easily reveal the wealth of fitness informtion.
You are responsible for adhering to your secular goals and obligations; pay your taxes and your bills, but what about your metaphysical obligations? Should you devote time and thought towards spirituality? Do you need spiritual direction?
Consider a utopian organization; one without fees. Why no cost? How could such an organization operate? Money is a secular item for secular obligations and the only investment would be time and thought. Meetings, paperwork, certification, pamphlets, video, messages …. could be transmitted online with minimal cost. Just the cost of maintaining your ISP which you are, most likely, already doing. For example, there are many online degrees, even Doctorates, but they all cost extensive amounts of money. How about a free degree? What if people other people online have volunteered their time and expertise to help achieve this goal. Here is an example of a free online Doctorate of Metaphysical Research degree. Interestingly, the prerequisites are a completion of a secular degree from any accredited university. Only after completing secular goals can someone begin metaphysical research. For secular purposes, the free online degree has no value since it is not accredited nor does it claim affiliation with any accrediting organization. What the degree does offer is different for each person at the secular level. How do you measure spiritual wealth? Can a secular organization accredit a non-secular degree? The degree is an introspective recognition of accomplishment. You feel confident and proud; you have impressed yourself, not others! What you need to ask yourself is what would completing a free online degree mean to you?
