If you are one of the many women out there who enjoy wearing clothing that feature sequins, chances are that you have probably bought or considered buying a sequin dress. If you are thinking about purchasing a dress with sequins, but you feel a little funny about it because you have been hearing that sequins are out of style, I am here to tell you to go forth in your pursuit of those amazingly unique sequin dresses.

Now, some of you might not even know what exactly sequins are due to the fact that they are somewhat obscure in this day in age. Essentially, they are small decorations that are attached to some sort of clothing item or accessory. These decorations can be made of many things, including plastic, metals and sometimes even gem-like stones. A lot of people do not know this, but sequins have actually been around for a very long time. They have been said to have originated in ancient Mediterranean times. However, when they were worn in early times, they were not made of plastic, but they were actually made of coins that were sewn into clothing to represent the fact that whoever was wearing these sequins came from wealth. Now however, the sequin dress has become quite the fashion statement among women who enjoy dressing fabulously decorative.

I understand that some people out there are probably reading this and thinking that anyone who would wear a sequin dress does not realize that this style is kitschy and should not be taken seriously. But I say...on the contrary! These dresses can be worn on a multitude of occasions, whether you are needing to find something wear to a formal occasion, or you just want to wear something fun in a casual setting, the dress with sequins works well for just about any situation. You should be careful though not to purchase just any dress with sequins. There are some out there that have a sheik, classy look. However, there are also plenty of clothing items with these decorations attached to them that look flat out ridiculous. The later of the two types of these dresses are what actually give sequins a bad rap. Most people however, can easily spot a hideous sequin dress from a gorgeous one.

If you have been told by your so-called "fashionable" friends that sequins are out, you should feel free to set them straight. Let them know that the fabulous sequin dress will never completely go out of style. Even when it isn't necessarily "hip" to sport sequins, you can easily pull them off because they have a vintage feel that can make you look like a trend setter rather than a follower of the latest fashion trends. Yes, styles do change rapidly, and what is cool now might be uncool in a month, but historically sequins have been able to stand the test of time and work well in one form or another, so if you have that urge to go out on a limb and purchase that beautiful sequin dress that you have been eyeing for a while, I recommend you buy it, it will definitely be money well spent!

To sum it all up, I am making it my own personal mission to spread the word that sequins are cool and can be worn in one way or another on any occasion. You should not hesitate to spend your hard earned money on the timeless classic sequin dress. It is not a bad idea however, to bring a friend (preferably one who appreciates sequins like yourself) and make sure that you are picking out one of the beautiful items containing these decorations, that way they can steer you away from the gaudy variety. Like I said before, sequins can work well for you if done right, but if the sequin dress you are purchasing is made in a way that is not classy, you will regret wearing it out in public. If you are wondering where you can purchase a dress with sequins on it, you can find a lot of places online that sell them for a very reasonable price. Also, your local mall should have a few sequin dresses to choose from as well.
