The Profile Of A Serial Killer 

Most serial killers as children abused animals.  A 1997 study done for the spca says that animal abusers are four times more likely to commit property crimes than people who have never abused animals.  Most animal abusers suffered abuse in their own childhood and this has resulted in anger and violence.  When it comes down to it, torture and murder is about control.  When someone has been caught commiting a crime against animals it should be taken very seriously as these people are likely progress to killing human beings.

 A week ago when I was reading the paper I was shocked to learn that the corner of my block had become ground zero for a "serial cat killer".  The police did not want to alarm the public but the killings were happening more often and they had no leads.  Of course now I have been trying to keep my cat indoors, but she goes stir crazy and  ends up getting out - usually at night.  Every morning when I get up I check outside to see if she is still alive.  Last night was a full moon so I was extra concerned thinking that would be when the crazies would be out for sure. 

You really have to wonder what kind of person would torture and butcher a domestic pet.  According to police profiles it is usually a young male.   Many serial killers start off mutilating animals before moving onto killing people, and that is what the police and the public are worried about in my neighbourhood.   

After doing a search on google for "serial cat killers" I found that miami has one on the loose as well.  In fact they caught a suspect, and suprise it was a 18 year old male.  By looking at his picture you would never of guessed that he was a sadistic cat killer.  He claims he is innocent, but he has been put under house arrest and been fitted with an ankle bracelet to monitor his whereabouts.

On facebook someone has actually started a "fans of the miami cat killer" page.  It has not been very popular and now has only 16 members.  There was also a catch the cat killer facebook page with 1,449 members but  it seems to have been taken down from what I can tell.

I was taking my dog for a walk the other day and noticed that someone had posted up some notices about the serial cat killer. Here it what it said:

Take cruelty to animals seriously. Don't ignore even minor acts of cruelty to animals by children. Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty against animals don't sto there; Many of them move on the their fellow humans.

Do you know waht your teen son, brother, nephew or friend is up to? Abuse against animals is generally committed by male youths.

Columbine High School students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who killed 12 classmates, bragged about mutilating animals to their friends. Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer impaled dogs' and cats' heads on sticks. As a child, serial killer and rapist Ted Bundy tortured animals.

If you suspect anyone of animal abuse, please contact the police. This is not a childhood prank. The next victim may be your relative."

Although the police where I live are very certain that a person is responible for the cat mutilations some animals have been killed by other predators. One woman brought here cat in for an autopsy and the vet said there was nawing on the bone. Very close to were we live a gentleman was out on a walk with his Chihuahua in his culdesac near his house when he heard a help and then saw his dog being snatched by a coyote. He gave chase, but never saw his pet again. Several days ago three vultures were circling my house and then one swooped down and came within 20 feet of my chihuahua before being scared off. After telling other chihuahua owners about this we heard that some had similar experiences with one vulture coming within six feet of their dog in the backyard.  Someone else told me that a friend had their chihuauha taken by a bird of prey who dropped it from a great height onto some ice which killed the small dog.   looked up chihuahua's and birds of prey online and found that yes birds do snatch small dogs.  One persons dog died after a bird swooped down to grab it, the bird did not get away with it but the chihuauha died from the sharp talons.

Tyler Weinman also known as the miami serial cat killer was originally arrested on charges of marijuana, after being released he was under surveillance for two weeks before being charged with the cat killings. I dont have anything against marijuana, although I am not a toker myself, but after reading a different story about the guy who created a cat bong you really have to wonder. This sickos excuse was that his cat scratched people and he thought the weed might calm her down. When the cat was rescued it was shaking and covered in urine and feces. I hope they give him the electric chair.
