Usually a serial killer is a person who kills three or more persons. And they usually kill for their own sexual or psychological gratification. The mind of the serial killer is one of the most interesting subjects on earth to some people. The United States FBI have a behaviorial science unit with what they call mind walkers. These mind walkers study the profiles of serial killers and try to decide what the serial killer is going to do next. The FBI Special Agent Robert Ressler is credited with coming up with the term serial killer in the mid 1980's. Ressler worked closely with the cases of Ted Bundy and David Berkowitz. Lets take a look at what the profile of the average serial killer is.

1. Most serial killers are white men who are single.

2. Most but not all serial killers have a higher than average IQ.

3. Most have trouble holding down jobs.

4. Most Serial Killers come from unstable homes.

5. Most serial killers are raised by domineering mothers.

6. The average serial killer wet their bed as a older child 8-14.

7. Many were caught torturing pets or neighbors pets as children.

Many serial killers kill for the thrill of killing. Their primary motive is to create terror or fear in their victims. If a victim is to docile it turns the serial killer off and the serial killer may kill them quickly or simply leave them alive because with out fear they don't get the stimulation they crave.

Many are in their own minds killing some family member such  as a mother or sister that may have wronged them in some way. Many mothers unfortuntly create serial killers by being highly over domineering to a male child and in many cases sexual abuse of the male child who grows up to be a serial killer.  

Jeffery Lionel Dahmer was born on May 21 1960 and he was killed by a fellow inmate on November 28 1994. Jeffery Dahmer was a American Serial Killer and a sexual offender. Dahmer was one of the most prolific serial killers and he is credited with killing 17 boys and young men between 1978 and 1991.

His murders were especially gruesome as rape , torture , murder and cannibalism was involved and also necrophilia ( sex with a dead body ). Dahmer even drilled into some of his victims heads with a electric drill to try to create a living breathing sex slave zombie who would never leave him.

It was on November 28th 1994 that Jeffery Dahmer and another inmate Jesse Anderson were beaten to death by a fellow inmate named Christopher Scarver who claimed to be Jesus Christ. He beat the two men to death with a bar from a weight lifting machine while the three inmates were supposed to be cleaning a prison bathroom while on a work detail. Jeffery Dahmer died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital from severe head injuries.

Before he died Dahmer made the claim that he was a born again Christian. Several attempts had been made on his life before the successful attempt on his life. Dahmer was one of the worst serial killers in modern history. His father said that he tried to get help for Jeffery Dahmer many times but he was un successful in getting Jeffery any help.

In 2007 new information came out that potentially linked Jeffery Dahmer to the death of Adam Walsh who was abducted and murdered in Florida in 1981. However Adam Walsh's father John Walsh always believed that it was Florida Serial Killer Otis Toole who killed his son. Dahmer was interviewed by police in the early 1990's but he denied any involvment with the Adam Walsh case. In 2008 Florida authorites said that the Adam Walsh case was closed and said they have evidence to prove that Otis Toole was in fact the killer of Adam Walsh.  

Wayne Williams who was born May 27th 1958 was considered to be the chief suspect in the Atlanta Child Murders. He was convicted of killing two adult men but after he was convicted police said they felt they had solved 23 of the 29 Atlanta Child Murders saying that it was their belief that Wayne Williams commited those 23 murders and said that it was likely Wayne Williams possibly commited many many more murders.

Controversy Over Wayne Williams

There is great controversy over the conviction of Wayne Williams for any murders. Many people including many in Law Enforcement do not believe that Wayne Williams killed anyone. They instead believe that Williams made his self appear to be guilty and the police eager for a suspect railroaded Williams. Some people believe that Charles T. Sanders a white supremacist commited or was involved in the Atlanta Child Murders. Lawyers for Williams are currently trying to get a new trial for Williams.
