If you don’t know who Seth Rogen is, I urge you to either turn off your PC and step outside your dwelling, or find a website that shows movies and do a search purely on Seth Rogen.

I first noticed Seth Rogen in one of my favorite movies of all times, The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Seth plays a character named Cal, a stock room under-study to Steve Carell’s character, Andy. First and foremost, there’s the laugh. Seth has the most infectious laugh I have ever heard. To me, it’s one of his trademarks. Seriously, I hope he gets paid every time he laughs on film or TV.

I noticed Seth more than anyone in the movie because of his charisma. I have been a movie nut since I could run into the movie store and differentiate between Beta and VHS. Anyone that can dupe me into thinking that they’re playing themselves is doing a hell of a job acting. No, I don’t mean that literally, but I just felt like I knew this guy once the movie was over.

There are times when I watch a movie and think to myself, “Wow, that person is a good actor”. Then there are times when a movie is over and I’m left thinking, “Damn, I would totally hang out with them”. On a personal level, for me to think that I could hang out with someone famous, it’s cool for me and a never-known compliment to them.

After being so impressed with Seth in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, I looked him up on IMDB.com. I had somehow missed his role as a camera man in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. It was a smaller role, but the infectious laugh was vaguely present. I can only assume that playing anything next to Will Ferrell would be a daunting task. Anchorman was released in July of 2004. Well, this is 2009, and Seth Rogen is Hollywood’s new mega, mega star.

Next, Seth swept me off my proverbial feet as Ben Stone in Knocked Up. Stepping up to play lead with gorgeous co-star actress Katherine Heigl had to been incredible. While fun and witty, the Judd Apatow flick also had a sweet story line. Knocked Up left me dazed and feeling giddy.

Next up to bat is the movie Superbad. Officer Michaels, Seth Rogen again, made me want to drink with cops. Ironically, cops in real life aren’t all that cool. Well, not like in Superbad at least. Seth plays opposite of Bill Hader, Officer Slater, and they give one lucky kid the best night of his life. Drinking, fighting, burnouts, and public target practice? Yes, they did it all, and they did it in one night. Ironically, Seth Rogen was supposed to play the character of Seth. Ultimately, it was decided that Jonah Hill would play Seth. Jonah had a younger feel and did a brilliant job coming through for Greg Mottola, Superbad’s director.

Seth has played a number of roles, and provided the voice of many great, animated or CGI characters. Perhaps my favorite role of his to date is as Zack Brown in Zack and Miri Make a Porno. I LOVED this movie! The whole cast blew me away, but Seth and co-star Elizabeth Banks re-instilled my faith in love and humanity. They tempted the taboo of best friends sleeping together and came out on top. It’s not a kid friendly movie, so put them to bed right now and buy Zack and Miri Make a Porno. You won’t regret it.

Seriously, go buy it.

Go on!
