  • Moving your head from side to side

The burning potential of calories is increased through the daily consumption of foods containing ‘healthy’ fats. Your daily diet should consist of consuming fats that are found in foods such as salmon, albacore tuna, avocados, some seeds and nuts as well as oils such as flaxseed, olive and hempseed.

Drinking water is an important part of any diet. Drinking cold water tends to cause the body to burn up more calories by raising the waters temperature, more so than by drinking hot beverages. Maintaining a well hydrated body will assist your metabolic rate to increase thus burning more calories.

Exercising With Weights

There are several ways that by training with weights your metabolism will get a boost. Lifting weights results in you building up your muscle tissue. Because this muscle tissue is metabolically active, even when you are at rest it requires calories helping your body to boost the fat burning enzymes.

Spicing it Up

It is said that you can speed up your metabolism by eating hot spices. With just a half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day you will elevate your metabolism with the added benefit of keeping check on your sugar levels. Besides cinnamon you can also spice up your food with wasabi, crushed red pepper or cayenne.

Eating more Protein

For protein to be digested and used for fuel your body is required to generate a chemical breakdown that is quite complex. In simple terms it will require 30 calories to process 100 calories of protein. Besides taking longer to digest protein, additional benefits such keeping your blood sugar under control and curbing your appetite can be achieved by eating protein. Including protein with every meal and as a snack will result in an increase in the number of calories that you will burn every day.
