Optimization of your website is important. It will help you get search engine rankings which will, in turn, bring your website traffic that could convert into customers.  Are you anchoring the right words in your seo efforts? Here are some tips to help you enhance the potential for high rankings online on popular search engines.

Here are some optimization tips to help you maximize your potential

1. Take more than one approach. Don't put all your SEO eggs in one basket.

2. Do keyword research. Figuring out what people who want to buy a product like you're selling are typing into the search engines is going to help you sell what you're selling.

3. Anchor text is important. Don't just create a hyperlink for any word...consider using highly searched words to get ranked for those words.

4. Look for keywords that are low competition. If you can find a highly searched but low competition keyword you have a better chance of getting to page one of the search engine results pages

5. Aim for local audiences wherever possible. Search engines take geography into consideration and people often add their home city or town to their keyword search so it can be wise to create your hyperlinks with local keywords or Long Tail keywords used.

6. Add a link to every page of your website. If you have a blog, for instance, always give people somewhere else to click. This can keep people on your page longer and the longer they're on your page the more likely they are to subscribe, click, or buy

7. Check your website statistics to see where your traffic is coming from. Continue to optimize with anchor text for words that are already bringing traffic in to help you gain as much ground on the search engines as possible. (Not only do you need to work to get to the top of the results, you need to keep working to stay there too!)
