There are so many things I like about MySpace. You get to meet and network with so many different people. Each and every person has their own individual taste and preference. There is so much creativity out there!
You can learn so much about someone just by visiting their site, reading their blogs, looking at their pictures and watching their videos they post. I just love all the diversity we have in our world!
One of the most personal things someone can have on their myspace page is their music selection. I believe music is one of the most powerful mediums we have out there to express yourself and share our message.
The song I am listening to right now while I am writing this blog, is an old country song by Willie Nelson & Ray Charles classic called ~ "Seven Spanish Angels"
I love music that moves you, you know what I mean? The lyrics and melody reach way down somewhere deep in the pit of your stomach, and you have no choice but to feel and respond with emotion. It's electrifying! I had one of those electrifying moments when I heard this old tune play again. If you're not country fan that's okay, but listen to the words of this old song sometime.
This song tells the story of a man held up in his barracks with his lover beside him, fighting for his land while trying to hold off the invading army. He knows he is out numbered this time and this would be the end of his life, but he's not going down without a fight. Surrendering is not an option for him. He turns to his love and looks in her dark brown eyes and whispers, say a prayer for me. Then he runs out to meet the firing military head on…. of course he meets his fate, but it doesn't end there. Look at the next verse:
"She reached down and picked the gun up that lay smoking in his hand
Saying God please forgive me I can't make it without my man
She knew the gun was empty and she knew she couldn't win
But her final prayer was answered when the rifles fired again"
I know I can be somewhat melodramatic, but what is more romantic than a love worth dying for. I know there are a lot of realistic people who will read this and say that no one is worth dying for! I understand your logic and I am not saying we should all kill yourself over someone, but think with your heart with me for a minute not your head.
To love someone so much that you're willing to stand beside them in their worst battle, and fight with them against the whole world. I guess what moved me so much was that fact that there have been lovers who have done just that. They have stood beside their loved one in the worst battle of their life, fighting just for the right to love one another. We have seen this displayed all threw out history. Jews couldn't love a Gentile, African Americans and Caucasians couldn't date. What we as a society openly accept now was at one time fought for by brave men and women willing stand against the invading army of public opinion and majority rule. We have come along way in accepting the truth that people should have the right to chose who to love.
There is still one group of people who are still fighting and dying for the right to love. That is same gender couples. Everyday someone, somewhere is facing the discrimination of hate and prejudice because they deeply care for and are madly in love with another human being.
I could write many pages on this topic, but my heart's cry is that Love was never meant to die for, it was meant to Live For! If we would just let all our people live for love instead of dying for it we could change the world!
To all those brave men and women out there who have loved a same gender partner I salute you. It because of you I now know that it is possible to fall in love with and commit your whole life to another person regardless if they are a man or women. I pray your sacrifice to face the firing squads of our laws and courtrooms will not go down in vain. So much has already changed in my short life time, thanks to pervious generations who were not afraid to love!!!
If you are heterosexual and you love someone with your whole heart, then you know that is what life is really all about. It's not about how much we can get, but who we can love. Who we can share our hopes, dreams and life with.
When we give every man and women the right to marry whoever they want to, is really giving them the right to LOVE. thanks~ "Seven Spanish Angels"
