World's Sexiest Lingerie

What makes me qualified to make this wonderful and fun list?

The answer is that I am a true believer in all things glamourous and ultra-feminine. Icing on the cake is that I have some experience with burlesque and in wearing and modeling lingerie for the camera.

One of the most sensuous things in all the world to me is in adoring the silky feel of lacy undergarments caressing my skin and my psyche. There is something so titillating about wearing exquisite lingerie underneath your daily clothes, especially when you are in a suit at a business meeting, to illustrate an example.

Dorothy Parker once said, "Take care of the luxuries and the necessities will take care of themselves." I concur.

This hub also comes just in time for Valentine's Day 2008, so have fun and buy generously for your friends and loved ones! They will be so glad that you did.

The following hub is to be an exhaustive one filled with all sorts of frilly undergarments that are meant to be shown off, in my humble opinion.

You wil feel like a million bucks and therefore, will exude trillions worth in self-confidence, and who wouldn't find that sexy?

The list is in no particular order, as I appreciate each store and/or label in my own special way for many reasons. Step aside, Victoria's Secret and Frederick's of Hollywood, and make way for the new guard.

1. Agent Provocateur : Who on the planet hasn't heard of them? They are based in London originally, and one of the founders is the son of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood. Talk about interesting pedigrees. They consistently raise the bar for wearable, yet semi-affordable in this lifetime lingerie.

From their celebrity spokespersons, ranging from Dita Von Teese to Maggie Gyllenhaal to Kate Moss to Lily Allen (rumored), this brand is becoming a bonafide lifestyle to those cheeky people in the know.

2. Coco De Mer : What is it with the Brits, I swear? Simply gorgeous erotic emporium and purveyor of many goods for the bedroom arts, oh and their lingerie is tops. Stunning and gorgeous are a mere two adjectives that I think every time I have gone online and into their Los Angeles store on Melrose.

Miss Immodesty Blaize, rising UK burlesque superstar, is one of their models and she embodies the old-time glamour reminiscent of the likes of Sophia Loren and Ava Gardner and any of the more buxom 50's starlets.

3. Lady Barbarella : A wonderful online shop that is recently found. I absolutely adore the lines that they carry, from Roberto Cavalli to Alberta Ferretti to one of my favorite lines, Damaris. Truly a site to behold and I would put nearly everything in my wishlist. Hint hint?

4. Strumpet and Pink : Whoa, does my temperature rise when I picture myself in the scene of own Victorian yet modern fantasy, wearing nothing but these frilly handmade gorgeous pieces. They are what I would have imagined Audrey Hepburn wearing behind closed doors.....go have a look and be the judge for yourself!

5. Catriona Mackechnie : Oh my goodness. She is a designer in her own right and has her own store with some of the contender's on this hub of mine. Dynamic one-stop shopping guaranteed to get your pulse rate up. If not, then surely you must be dead!!

6. Guia La Bruna : I just adore the silky garments here and would actually wear this as outerwear, it's truly inspiring. The camisoles paired with some high-end jeans would be just devastating for a night on the town.

7. Elle Macpherson Intimates : In addition to being arguably one of the world's most beautiful women ever, she has a body built for sin and the brains to conjure up and oversee her own line of sexy underpinnings. Her designs are classic yet modern and wearable and come in a great range of sizes for most body types.

I pretty much guarantee that you will find something there, no matter what your inclinations or mood. The details on her intimates are what get me every time. A more plain seeming bra at first glance gets double duty when you notice the attention to beautiful details.

8. Spoylt : Yup, another on the list from the UK. Designed by women FOR women, this line is a plethora of good taste and charm. One of their mottos is, "Be sexy, and have fun with it!" Indeed. I love anything that doesn't take itself TOO seriously. There are many items that are highly functional for multiple purposes, from in the bedroom to daily wear.

9. Trashy Lingerie : I used to work here over a decade ago. It is a formidable Los Angeles institution. The Shriers have been hawking their custom-made designs for many moons now.

You can see their designs on most every Playmate, in magazines like Rolling Stone, Details, etc.

Their celebrity roster includes fans like Drew Barrymore, Pamela Anderson, Madonna, most every pinup model and porn star out there, and it's worth the trip to LA alone to get your pink membership card for $3 annually since it's a "private membership store."

10. La Petite Coquette : After reading Rebecca Apsan's book The Lingerie Handbook, I really want to visit her store, La Petite Coquette in New York. Did you know that up to 75% of modern women wear the incorrect sized bra? Food for thought. Her store offers some of the most popular and tasteful items, both for the thong novice as well as seasoned boudoir enthusiast.

11. Mary Green : Extremely reasonable and a little more on the casual end, but not too Victoria's Secret PINK. Angelina Jolie is apparently a fan, and that's good enough for me!

12. Guia LaBruna : A recent find, a wonderful Italian designer that also makes super sexy swimwear. Luxuriant and decadence at its finest.

13. Lise Charmel : The French do it so well, yes, designing lingerie, what did you think I was hinting at!? One of the very first French lingerie designers that I discovered awhile ago, their designs are unique yet timeless and look like a million bucks without being a million bucks. I adore their color combinations.

14. Pleasure State : I run out of adjectives when I look at their site. Truly inspirational, some of their designs can actually, OH MY GOODNESS, be found at Victoria's Secret, since they now carry some of the line. Way to go, Vicki!

15. Pinup Girl Clothing : I would be remiss to not include Pinup Girl Clothing in this list. In addition to custom-making lingerie for those in the adult business, whether it be adult film stars or exotic dancers, they also offer a wide array of affordable lingerie for us real girls and rockabilly babes and vixens. Their customer service is superb as well and have the best return policy in the industry, so have no fear! Besides, they have two of my favorite models, Micheline Love and Masuimi Max, modeling their fine goods!

So there you have it, dear readers, as of late January 2008, this is my exhaustive list of sexy. I can definitely be persuaded to add more to it as I find things while rummaging for my own formidable collection.
