Boxers or briefs? A question most women will have to face sooner or later. Let's face it, unless your partner is a "new man" or a "metro"... he will be using the underwear mommy bought him until it is falling apart with tears and holes!

At some point in the line of your relationship it becomes YOUR task to choose his underwear. The most obvious thing to do, before buying him underwear, is to ask him what he likes, as it might not be the same as what he is currently wearing. Some men, are very traditional and will not wear anything but their favourite type of undies; while others, more adventurous, will vary their undies according to the activity they are planning and the clothes they are going to wear. However, if your man goes for leopard print briefs, pretend you didn't hear him... or even better, look for another man!

Most of us are familiar with the all-around-elastic shorts. They have the advantage of offering completely free leg movement. I am a fan of boxer shorts because you can find them in all variety of styles, materials, prints and designs to fit best your Romeo.

I believe they are the most flattering style of underwear. Most boxer shorts have an opening in the front. The opening can be closed with a button or left alone as the design allows for the material to overlap and fully cover the opening.

Advantages:

• In an emergency if the guy has to run away wearing only his undies, at least they can pass as shorts.

• They hide quite a large area so there is room for imagination.

• They have plenty of room for nature's works.

The Jockey-style briefs appeared in the late 1930s. Personally, I cannot think about briefs without thinking about Homer Simpson! But having a quick look at the latest trends it appears that briefs are not that "bad" at all anymore. Brands like CK, DKNY, 2exist and Cin2 have made briefs fashionable and I must admit -with effort- sexy.

My favourite material for men's underwear is silk. I think they offer style and luxury as they have a seductive quality. Any man who wants to attract attention with style and sensual details wants to slip into silk, a fun and sexy alternative to traditional cotton underwear.

This is actually the most difficult part about buying underwear for your other half. Sizes vary from country to country and from brand to brand. Also because of the different styles in pants today, sizing varies according to cut and designer. To make sure that the underwear fits the way it should and that you he will be as comfortable as possible, take a few minutes to take some measurements and find the right size for him. You'll need a soft tape measure, and believe me... this can be fun!
