For those confident enough with the way they look here are some sexy swimwear ideas that might be taken on board for this summer.

Just remember that you do not need to be perfect to look good and sexy in your swimwear. Confidence and good posture are often the best advice to look good in whatever you are wearing!

First of all, baring it all is out.

It is not sexy to go completely naked -who said that nudist beaches were sexy? First of all you are wearing nothing, so there is nothing to admire. No one will be looking at your naked body as it is rude to do so on a nudist beach. Secondly, if you are not wearing anything, you cannot hide your "little sins". And thirdly, who wants sunburned nipples and sand stuck in their most intimate parts?

No Thong or G-string

Unless you are in the Costa del Sol and you are under 30 do not go for a g-string either. A thong or g-string is very sexy only in a few lucky women with toned butts and thighs.

Topless is out

Also forget about topless if you are over 30, your boobs will not be as perky as they were 10 years ago, and even if they are, you should start taking care of the thin skin in your breast area before it starts sagging.

So once we have established that topless, nudism and g-strings or thongs are out, let's start talking about sexy swimwear.

For the ones who are a bit concerned about their figure, the good news are that the tankini is back, and yes, you can look sexy in a tankini. There are different models to suit your shape. There are tight ones, loose ones, short and long ones. They are much more forgiving than a one piece swimsuit and you can mix and match colours and styles to create your own look.

The tankini can be very flattering on women with full figures. The only important thing is to ensure that the bikini top and bottoms meet. I mean, do not bare your tummy if it is not toned. Even better, if you have a full figure, wear a camisole type top that provides good support for the breast and skims over unsightly bulges.

For Active and Sexy Women: The halter neck.

If you are the type that cannot sit still and sunbathe all day, but you need to run after your children or want to do some water sports, then a halter neck bikini is what you are looking for to look sexy and be active.

Halter necks are more likely than other types of bikinis to stay in place during your beach or pool activities.

Do you want an all-over tan?

To avoid bikini lines you can try the swimsuits that let you have an all over tan without having to bare it all.

I have not tried these ones personally, so I cannot say whether they work or not. If you do, please let me know.

I do love the fact that they are one piece but very small. I already have a couple of these ones. They are very comfortable to wear even in the swimming pool. There are different styles, each for a different body type. You just need to find the one that suits you best, enhances your best assets and hides the parts you are less proud off.

The light blue swimsuit with strass is better on a small breast and flat tummy, even if you have ample hips.

Trikini

The "trikini" style in here is best on a slender shape, which can carry a bikini no problem.

The black swimsuit -on the right- is ideal for hourglass shapes and it has an excellent hold. But it is better if your breast is not too big as the piece of cloth joining the top and bottom part would stick out badly if your bust lifts it too much.

This is one of the smallest bikinis you can get. Only advisable for sunbathing and feeling like a goddess. It is called a string bikini because it has thin strings that serve as straps and support.

Usually the smallest and sexier bikinis -like the ones on the right- are only advisable for that special holiday on your friends' Italian or French Villa with private swimming pool. Otherwise you will end up with some weirdoes coming too close to you! I still remember an old Spanish man who came to pick up shells next to me while I was sunbathing in one of Marbella's beaches. He spent ages digging around my towel looking for his shells...

When looking for sexy swimwear, think about the effect you want to create, where are you going to wear it and what sun factor cream you are going to wear. Some lovely bikinis can end up giving you a horrendous tan (I am thinking about the tiny blue bikini on the right!) full of unsightly lines across your chest or other parts of your body.
