Salman Khan: You know what happens usually people ask this question usually the fear is this he shouldn’t stop the interview here itself. I like this. I have spoken about this we are grown up people we are not warriors we come here to work but you grow up you are thinking he is good with his friends and family I am good with my friends and family there nothing more to it just there was a fight personal khatm ho gayi baat.

- Movie Review:- What's Your Rashee..
What's Your Raashee?Starring: Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra Director: Ashutosh Gowariker Rating: ** ½ The movie begins at Bardoli village, Gujarat where a wealthy old man decides to write his assets in the name of his grandson Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja), the only person in the family to remember his maternal grandfather on all occasions (read birthdays). Yogesh is doing his MBA at Chicago with a rocking life style of a sincere student in the day time, popular guy in the campus and a DJ at a night club. But things are not rosy at home in Mumbai where his elder brother has taken a huge amount of loan and lost it in stock market crash and is not able to pay back to several people including a local bhai. He is supposed to give attendance everyday at Bhai’s office and he is being constantly threatened by two chelas of the dreaded bhai who has a style of threatening defaulters – he would cut the fingers by using a betel nut cutter. A family astrologer predicts that within a very short time Yogesh would get married and he would get a fortune on the very same day. Yogesh makes an urgent visit home after learning of sudden ill health of his dad, which turns out to be a false news and he is further taken aback by the ridiculous request made by his family members - he has to marry a girl in 10 days in order to save his family from an eventual complication and disgrace. After a long phase of jet lag and persuasion and emotional blackmail by family members he agrees to marry and being a principled man he refuses to accept dowry. He starts reading a book which he happens to find at home and what’s that book all about? No prizes for guessing – “What’s your Rashee?” and then starts the poor translation of Linda Goodman’s sun signs book into a loose movie plot. As if it is not enough, there are two additional silly and forgettable sub plots. The girls start entering in a random zodiac fashion and each zodiac has a story to tell. Ashutosh Gowariker struggles to stitch a convincing story relevance-wise as well as astrology-wise. Some zodiac signs lack convincing characterization and a few overlap. Only a few succeed in making an impact due to the versatile Priyanka Chopra who delivers every character with sheer conviction and brilliant performance. Anjali (Mesh) with a slouch and a bad dressing sense, Vishakha (Vrishabh) with a childish behavior who wants to test the person, Kaajal (Mithun) a vivacious and bubbly girl who thinks it is a must to give some time to understand each other before marrying, Hansa (Karka) a traditional girl with a broken heart, Mallika (Simha) an ambitious and headstrong dancer, Pooja (Kanya) a doctor who wishes for a husband to support her in every venture of hers, Rajani (Tula) a dominating business person for whom the marriage is a business contract to save her from an ongoing CBI enquiry, Nandini (Vrishik) who has a conservative exterior with a diametrically opposite true nature and who is passionate about becoming a supermodel, Bhavna (Dhanu) an astrologer with seductive charms, Jankada (Makar) a school going underage girl, Sanjana (Kumbh) a sophisticated and a straightforward girl and lastly Chandrika (Meen) a filmy kinda person who believes in re-incarnation and second lives….huh While adapting the extremes of every character to the demands of screen, the story loses it’s plot (if at all it had any) in a big way only to be saved mercifully by the brilliant Priyanka Chopra. Music has always been a strong point of Gowariker’s films here it’s a downer. Every zodiac breaks into a compulsory song with only very few being catchy. The story becomes so predictable in the second half that you wait for the movie to get over and start counting how many signs are still left and with no interest left to see which sign the protagonist ultimately marries. From whatever little you showed us (for a fraction of a second) on the screen Mr. Gowariker, I could gather that Yogesh Patel is Mithun moon sign and Scorpio sun sign. But his birth details do not match with the chart generated towards the end of the movie. But you were so busy adapting extremes of Priyanka Chopra’s 12 zodiac signs, you completely neglected the characterization of the main lead. He is just a foreign returned student with some music knowledge and giving all similar responses, exclamations and surprise reactions to the extreme idiosyncrasies convincingly exhibited by Priyanka Chopra’s characters. Harman Baweja doesn’t impress overall. However, the rest other cast members have put up a good show. The film would have been a little more bearable had it been under three hours but a running time of 3 hours and 30 minutes appears far too much. If you may ask whether to check it out or not well there are only two reasons to watch this astrological blunder made by Ashutosh Gowariker – Priyanka Chopra and Priyanka Chopra. -- If you like this post, then please subscribe to my Also you can Subscribe by Email so that new posts will be sent to your inbox.
- Priyanka: Her only agenda in life is get a boyfriend
Priyanka: Her only agenda in life is get a boyfriendBy Joginder Tuteja After playing full-on glamorous roles in films like FASHION, DOSTANA and LOVE STORY 2050 last year, Priyanka Chopra has gone for a minimal make up look for KAMINEY. As per the actress, this was a conscious decision since the character of Sweety that she plays in this Vishal Bhardwaj directed film is such that it doesn't warrant extra time to be spent in front of the mirror. "Just imagine, Sweety is someone who comes from a lower middle class family, lives in a chawl and is a college going 22 year old girl. There was no way that we could have justified her as a glamorous personality when her background and upbringing was completely on the contrary", says Priyanka who would next be seen in 12 different looks for Ashutosh Gowariker directed WHAT'S YOUR RASHEE which arrives late September. As per Priyanka, there is a certain way in which young college going girls behave and she has adapted those mannerisms to go with the character of Sweety. "Where is the time for someone so young to be sitting in front of a mirror and get all dolled up", questions Priyanka who is paired opposite Shahid Kapoor in the film, "Most of such college going girls are usually in so much in hurry. Sweety is just one of them who takes hardly any time in getting dressed him, puts on a 'choti', rushes to college and has only one agenda in life- Get a boyfriend! She is content when she gets one!" Playing a hardcore Maharashtrian girl, it was quite a task for Priyanka to actually put on the mannerisms that go well with her background and upbringing. "Being a Punjabi, it was really very difficult", says Priyanka, "I had to work extra hard since I had so many friends belonging to Maharashtra and I had to make them feel proud of me when they see me on screen." Since she has been a part of the industry for quite some time now, Priyanka has been put up in Mumbai for 7-8 years now. Was it still such a difficult task considering the fact that one expects a person to have adapted to the atmosphere by now? "Adapting is one thing and playing someone who belongs to the region is different", explains Priyanka, "I had to go through 1.5 months of training to get the Maharashtrian milieu and language right. I guess I have done a good enough job though I still look forward to all the feedback coming my way once audiences see me on screen."-- If you like this post, then please subscribe to my Also you can Subscribe by Email so that new posts will be sent to your inbox. - To impregnate a girl by mistake, I had to look innocent: Ruslaan Mumtaz
To impregnate a girl by mistake, I had to look innocent: Ruslaan MumtazBy Joginder Tuteja After MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Ruslaan Mumtaz is once again seen on the big screen in Satish Kaushik directed Teree Sang. In the film which opened last Friday, this 24 year old young man plays the role of a 17 year old boyfriend of a 15 year old girl (Sheena Shahabadi) who gets pregnant from him. The film comes with a message around teen pregnancy and has one of its major promotional pegs being sex education. In this exclusive interview, Ruslaan Mumtaz talks about the entire makeover that he had to go through for Teree Sang and how it wasn't an easy task for him to bag the lead role in the film. Ruslaan, in real life you come with quite an impressive physique. So what did you do to look so different in Teree Sang? I had to actually go through a complete makeover as far as my looks, physique and wardrobe were concerned. For Teree Sang, I had to lose a lot of weight. Since Sheena (Shahabadi) is practically a kid, I had to look innocent too. More so because I was playing the role of a 17 year old boy who could impregnate a girl by mistake. It was imperative that audiences are led to believe that this guy is someone who can commit a mistake. So he had to be simple and quite naive, something that can be projected only if the look and presentation is correct. He couldn't have been shown as a cool dude because then his character wouldn't have been believable at all. Please carry on... This boy is so sweet and simple that the girl keeps bullying him but he still never minds. She calls him a duffer but he only smiles. He is someone who is just not pretentious at all. He comes from a poor family and when he visits Sheena's house for the first time, his eyes pop out by witnessing just the sheer magnitude of the mansion where she lives. He is very vocal about his emotions as well but when it comes to the moment of decision making (when he accidentally gets the girl pregnant), he doesn't shy away from his responsibilities. He could have said that it's the girl who actually pushed him into the act but he never does that. He supports her whole heartedly. There have been interesting stories floating around how you were selected for the role. I have heard that Satish Kaushik was not really keen to cast you even though you were quite persistent. What you have heard is half correct and half incorrect (laughs). It isn't as if Satish Kaushik wasn't keen to cast me. He actually wanted me for the role since he was quite impressed with my screen test. However, he wanted a new boy for the role and I had already signed Robby Grewal's MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar. He asked me if I could leave MP3 but that wasn't possible for me. 6 months passed by and he still hadn't found his boy (laughs). So I approached him again and told him that he would never find a better boy than me to play this role. He again said no to me but surprisingly whenever there were any auditions for different girls who were being looked for the role, he would call me. Finally, I got to know that someone else was taken for the hero's role. That must have been heartbreaking... You bet! Here I was coming week after week hoping that he would finally be convinced and there he went on to take some other boy. Thankfully there were so many other people who had seen the auditions. People from his own family and Bharat Shah (who is producing the movie) - everyone was sure that I was the guy for the role. As was destined, they didn't take either the boy or the girl whom they had selected first. Ultimately Sheena and I were signed on. What happened to that boy who was finalized before you? That guy is now an aspiring director actually. He was a very sweet guy and I completely believe that he was also very apt for the role. In fact he was just himself when he walked in for the audition and that was the very reason why he was selected in the first place. I observed him quite carefully since for me, he was the reference point for the boy I had to play on screen. I had to just wear the kind of loose clothes that he was wearing, get an appearance like him and adapt his mannerisms. You must be pining a lot of hopes on Teree Sang? See, box office is important but then it is at the end of the day quite secondary. As long as I can have DVDs of 10 of my films ready and I can show them to people who matter, it is great. That should be my goal as of now. I am a newcomer and not really in a position to decide where I would be in a few years from now. Ultimately Teree Sang is a Satish Kaushik film and that by itself should be good enough to pull in audiences.-- If you like this post, then please subscribe to my Also you can Subscribe by Email so that new posts will be sent to your inbox. Question: What upset you so much that you want to talk about it?
Question: Because itna sources se aa raha tha ke iss source se ye aa raha hai uss source se wo aa raha hai (there was lot coming from some unconfirmed sources) the whole thing was coming on to me that he’s done it again. Suddenly I was looking like I was misfit in society as it is I don’t have like the most amazing reputation its varies from anger to bad boy to good hearted so it’s a huge confusion. So this is something I wanted to clear and there is no point in pretending I don’t feel the need to pretend his got his point of view he is right and whatever he feels so and I am right in my own way.
Question: The reports were coming that you started it.
Salman: Why would I start there was no reason for me to start.
Question: Some party
Salman: There was a problem some two years ago two-three years back quiet some time ago grown up people sort it out but now it’s two different personalities.
Question: You are talking about the trouble on the sets.
Salman: Yes that time so there’s no need for some one use to call you sir sir.
Question: He used to call you that.
Salman: Yes, when he used to struggle so there is no point in disrespect
Question: Salman I know you don’t you said it is personal but you want to clear the air that what happen?
Salman: Nothing it’s done.
Question: It was about the shows that you are doing.
Salman: Na na I don’t think it’s that’s going to make any difference I don’t think he would stop that low. I don’t think that would make a difference to him.
Question: But you are not friends anymore.
Salman: yeah yeah
Question: Finished
Salman: Yeah
Question: Were you ever friends?
Salman: Yeah yeah I took him as a brother. For me he was like Sohail and Arbaaz. That’s what hurt me.
Question: You used to stay together I’ve heard, in days of his struggle.
Question: Yeah he used to hang out in the house all the time. That’s why.
Question: Are you very sensitive with these kind of stuff. Do you take things very personally?
Salman: Depends. I let a lot of things go for the longest time and at times something somewhere just hurts me and I back off. I don’t like to pretend. And once it’s over then I will not do anything about it. I will not wish ill. I just back off. You have no right to try to malign that person, trying to play with that person. Khatam khatam.aap apne raste. woh apne raste. Like my father’s partnership broke up with Javed sahib not once has he, you know, they meet cordially, they meet politely.
Question: But it’s never the same but if someone was to come and say they were sorry and that they feel sad that they have upset you, would you be willing to change your mind?
Salman: You know cracks in a wall can be fixed; cracks in relationships can’t be fixed. I will be fine. Ok, cool, theek hain forgiveness is divine.
Question: But what if someone says like Vivek Oberoi came and said sorry to you but you didn’t care about it.
Salman: You know doing this in press, in front of everybody that kind of stuff if you want to act, act on screen. Disrespect… I can’t act. By mistake I have messed up so many times but it’s not a planned thing. Agar kuch ho gaya (If something happens) and then you realise in the morning and you are like I am sorry then it works then it’s ok but if you plan something and do it then it’s like.
Question: So, Salman you said that there are so many variations of what people think you are the bad boy, the good boy. There’s a reputation of people seeing you in controversies. They see you going in and out of court for black bug and various charges. Did that bother you did that upset you.
Salman: You have done it you have to face the allegations. You have not done it then you in your mind you have not done it. Then you can’t do anything about it. People think that I’ve done it but there’s nothing I can change. So jaao bhaiyya jaao, so you know that you’ve done nothing wrong so go away with your head held up high, come out with you head held up high.
Question: You were saying that the whole thing was just you were wrongly framed in that Black Buck shooting case.
Salman: It was a misunderstanding, a total misunderstanding. We tried to clear it then it didn’t happen, it didn’t work out so in court you can’t give an emotional speech, yeh yeh aisa …so they go very technical.
Question: What do you think happened…do you think there was an attempt just because you were a famous person, you were a celebrity, and there was an attempt to nail you?
Salman: See, whatever bad, whatever bad, lot of good comes out as well see today the Black Buck is no more an endangered species you know shikaar, shikaar was hardly one per cent but people used to hunt and kill animals but the actual problem is the deforestation, there’s no water, there’s no fruit bearing trees, there’s nothing, there’s no jungles left. And even according to the global warming there has to be 35 per cent jungles in every country, where’s the jungle, there’s no jungle. There are more trees in the cities than in the forests, where are the animals going to go, that’s how they’re going to die. But shikaar because of that aap Salman khan ko andar daal sakte ho toh kisi ko bhi andar daal sakte ho (if you can put Salman in jail then anybody). So everyone it became such a high profile thing, which is good.
Question: It’s extraordinary to see Salman Khan talk in the defence of the Black Buck because the public reputation is different because of what happened.
Salman: Yeah well, that’s what they think.
Question: How was it doing jail time, was it tough on you?
Salman: I was mentally somewhere else; I was mentally seen in my home chilling out. I was sketching, I was working out, and I was eating whatever they gave me to eat.
Question: Were people friendly, were the other convicts friendly?
Salman: Yeah, I was not allowed to meet anybody so…there was one person with me that’s all.
Question: And Salman as far as you films are concerned, you’ve been having a pretty good run but I was just going back into your filmography and you’ve had some ups and downs in the past. Did you ever feel that you had any regrets about the bad patch?
Salman: See there was one bad patch that was there (V- Bad patch as in somewhere around ‘92-’93 and another bad patch around ‘00 - ‘02) yeah that was in my whole career I must have done 70 plus films out of them five or six have not done well, so if that is the bad patch then…what is the good patch.
Question: Do you feel that the majority of your films I’m talking about films like Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Chal Mere Bhai, Kahin Pyaar Ho Na Jaye.
Salman: They were all commission earners, they were not super-duper hits, yeah they were all hits, yeah they were all B+ films, Nishchay, Suryavamshi, Jagruti all these films were Chandramukhi, Chand ka Tukda yeah this was the phase. This was the phase that was the bad one) and that was the phase when I wanted to buy myself a house, so at that point of time and So you were just signing on whatever you ever getting) no but the thing is that all these people…you start of making a film and you think its good script but then somewhere it goes wrong and when a senior director is directing you can’t say anything, so when you work.. yeh script change kiya, woh change kiya, it becomes a different film altogether, phir kya karein, you can’t say sir I can’t do this film, you promised me this…that’s not in me. Then shot do wapas aa jao.
Question: But Salman do you think that it has dented the perception as an actor. People because of those films are not taking you seriously.
Salman: Because I don’t scream I’m the best, I’m best, I’m the best. I don’t need to say that the Box office says that. Even without big producer and directors they do fairly well.
Question: I know you are a huge commercial star but there is a always thing that haunts you about you’re acting ability, people say whenever it comes to great actors they name others but you don’t bother.
Salman: I don’t bother but I think Govinda is by far the best actor from anybody put anybody in front of him.
Question: Not Aamir Khan.
Salman: Anybody… anybody… he’s so brilliant that nobody can stand in front of him.
Question: Really.
Salman: - He’s outstanding.
Question: But you like that kind of acting spontaneous… charismatic
Salman: There’s so much of problem that’s going on in our country that they are stressed out. If you can go and have a blast and come back and by the way… comedy is the most difficult thing to do.
Question: What about someone like Aamir who prepares for his role?
Salman: He’s very hard working that’s where his sincerity, he really works and that’s why he looks different in his film.
Question: But you…
Salman: I don’t do that; it’s different way of working.
Question: But you respect what he does.
Salman: Yes Yes.
Question: But you don’t think it’s required that it’s not necessary for an actor.
Salman: Aamir feels that way that means he might have thought something naa. If I’ll do that it’ll look like a practice. Aamir does it so much that it looks effortless if I’ll do it I will not be able to do it to that hard work then they’ll say arrey yaar ispe bahut effort dala hai once that effort is seen you are not good.
Question: So you don’t believe in broadcasting from the roof top that you are No 1
Salman: When four people say that he has done good work then everybody recognises it. Oh everyone says kya kaam kia, superb, agar ye humko diya hota toh, toh hum bhi kar saktein hai but we don’t wanna do that. Kya ookahd kya liya what have we achieved.
Question: For you who is no 1.
Salman: Aamir, there’s Akshay whose films are doing really well.
Question: Shah Rukh
Salman: Currently those who do 4-4 pictures… Akshay.
Question: He is much bigger.
Salman: Much bigger.
Question: Salman are you a very spiritual person
Salman: Ya very spiritual
Question: There’s difference between religion and spirituality.
Salman: Ya I know…
Question: So, you are spiritual but not religious
Salman: Of course I’m religious… ya ya…
Question: That’s a side that people don’t know about.
Salman: Ya ya They know. I don’t pray when I’m sad. I don’t pray when I’m really upset.
Question: Whom do you pray to?
Salman: Almighty. Anybody, Allah. My mother is a Hindu. So I go to a Hanuman mandir, so she takes me to a Gamesh Mandir I go there.
Question: So it’s not like one God.
Salman: No..
Question: Before we end Salman, the other big rumour that always floats around is you and Katrina. There are always rumours about you and Katrina splitting up and you guys are being together for how long five years right.
Salman: Five years if that ever happens you’ll see it. God forbidden if it happens, I’ll not talk about it, we broke up it happened earlier also. Abhi toh kuch aisa hai nahi ki tootega.
Question: I have read somewhere that this might be something permanent.
Salman: People have got me married 150 times.
Question: Honestly I have read somewhere
Question: Ya next year may be next to next may be this year they ask me when are you getting married? So I tell them cut the conversation short. Next year. All the very best. Thank You
Salman: Thank you.
