Why do you need fiber?

So if you have tried the Shakeology meal replacement drink, you know that this new Shakeology Fiber is going to be great and the best. But why is it important to have fiber in your diet? There are many reasons why we all need fiber in our diets.

Fiber:

  • Improves Digestion
  • Promotes Regularity
  • Can lower Cholesterol levels
  • Slows the absorption of Glucose (helping to control sugar spikes)
  • Helps you feel full

How much fiber do we need?

Although there in not an official recommended daily amount for fiber, the U.S. government says that women from 18 to 50 years old should have about 25 grams and 21 grams for women over 50. Men between 18 to 50 years of age should have about 38 grams of fiber, and for men over 50 should have around 30 grams.

Most adult americans only get around 11 to 13 grams per day, which is less than half of what we should be getting. Shakeology Fiber was not made to give you all the fiber you need in a day, but it was made to help you reach your fiber levels.
