70A stock market is a public marketplace for purchase and sales of stocks/shares of companies at the agreed prices.These are traded privately.
In stock market various type of people and organizations are envolved in trading of stocks of companies. The parties who use their knowledge of market to earn money for them and for their customers are often called players, they are brokers and mediators who play with the stocks and shares of the companies. This game requires lot of knowledge and experience in the domain. So the role of players becomes very crucial and affects market very much.

A few terms about STOCK MARKET
- Player : Mediators and brokers are called players. Broker, dealer, banks, merchant bankers, mutual funds etc fall in the category of Player.
- Open order : if investor instructs broker to purchase but is not followed of the deal is not cancelled then that is called open order.
- Open bidding : The wuction in which anyone can bid is called open bidding.
- Open ended mutual fund : In such types of funds any investor can invest money anytime. NAV rates are published in newpapers reggularly and maturity period isnot fixed.
- At the opening order : If the investor instructs his broker to do trading right on the opening of market then it is called "At the opening order".
- Overnight loan : Loan given by the banks for one night only is called overnight loan. this loan is returned to the banks in the next morning.
- Gun jumping : If trading of shares of any company is started even before some important information about the company is reached to comman public then it is called "gun jumping".
- Hot money : The money that iis often invested from one country to different country very rapidly to earn profit from different interest rates is called "hot money".
- Hot issue : If among investors some public issue is highly poppular and in unauthorised market big deals of these issues are being done on premiums then these are called "hot issues".
- Buy and hold strategy : If any investor purchases shares and holds them for long period for long term profit then this strategy is called "Buy and hold strategy".
