Love is powerful – fear is weak Love is real – fear is illusionOur ability to love others must be based on our ability to love ourselves. True self love is much harder to accomplish than it sounds.A person that loves themselves would not participate in self destructive behavior, smoking, drinking excessively, high risk sports, recreational drugs, lack of exercise, high stress environments, abuse of money, excessive gambling and many other forms of harmful behaviors are symptoms of a lack of self love and self respect.If you engage in high risk self-destructive behavior it is based on fear and not love. Fear is an illusion that will block the power of love from filling us. Stop these negative behaviors now.Love radiates from those with self confidence brought on through self love, other people attracted to the kindness and warmth help and embrace the common goals you share with them. Life is easier for those that love themselves and so they take on larger goals and accomplish greater things. Evaluate your ability to love who you are. Take a few quite minutes each day to think about how kind and generous you were to yourself today. If self-destructive behaviors are part of your pattern they must stop now. Planning to stop negative behaviors will not work, they must stop now.Any self-destructive behaviors multiply when sharing of love in a relationship is based on covering up your lack of self love. Two people will fail to make each other happy if they do not start with a basis of true self love. Fear will become jealousy, anger and resentment, the fear will win if you let it run your life. People that are connected with who they are in a loving way are kind to themselves, generous with time and resources in their personal life and experience true happiness internally, without requiring outside stimulation to feel fulfilled.A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Strong chains lift heavy loads. Two people that love themselves, coming together, make a very strong chain and are capable of accomplishing huge goals. In counseling the one thing that jumps out quickly is that couples focused on self-destructive behaviors are focused on themselves and their fears. Couples that love themselves and come together to support each other in self-respect see large goals outside themselves and work to accomplish them together as real partners.Issues become symptoms, which are part of a pattern that starts with a lack of self love and escalates to behaviors that are not in your best interest. Great people that are kind and generous to their spirit see the world around them as kind and generous, and so the world is kind and generous to them.
